    Model Y Performance

Edit: mine is a 2023 MYP rear brakes may/are different on the earlier MYP's i think. With this thread origin being 2022. Nope I did also buy summer tires and mounted them up as well on the 18" Enkei wheels but I did go to a 235/55-18" tire on the front to drop the nose a little...

    Navigation and Map changes

I will try that- but, pretty sure I did that the first day of ownership. The sat view has always shown the vehicle Correctly when home exactly where it sits parked and is plugged in with the address . For the Nav to say your destination is on the right side of the road, we would have...

    Navigation and Map changes

Just a question since this is a Nav and google maps thread. My maps shows my home on the correct side of the road. If I use the voice nav and say Navigate home, It always says your destination is on the right which is incorrect. From above it sounds like there are ways to fix this? I...

glass roofs have to go bye bye.

Never really thought about it , but in a bad hail situation , a Model Y would need very little in body work. New Glass. New hood, body work to the spoiler, roof rails, and fender tops paint and done , Oh and all the glass to vacuum up.:)

    Navigate in my driveway

Yep unfortunately for us the neighbor is on the Opposite side of the road. Your destination is on the right. Bug reports No it is on the Left.... for over a year and I guess this is a maps problem? It shows correctly on the map . All even numbers are on one side. Odd on the other...

    Accelerating when braking?

I don't know about others BUT here is a post I made in the first 3 days of owning my Model Y and how certain women responded to Me and My Tesla... The Cool Factor?? When I stopped by the bank to get the certified check for My Performance Y a bank teller gal overheard that the check was for a...

    Accelerating when braking?

That is interesting . When I tested this, I did only apply about 25% accelerator and could not detect any forward thrust against light brake pressure. That was about a year ago and obviously much older software. I never thought to fully floor it and try and hold the car stationary. With...

Thoughts on this damage. Is it totaled?

Hopefully they get right to it and get the vehicle inside. Good Luck for a great outcome.

Thoughts on this damage. Is it totaled?

Do you have a picture of the passenger side with the door closed window down? Definitely did knock the sail panel down. Just wanting to see the door alignment at the B pillar and if it is still good. Agree looks repairable. Oh read your last post shattered roof glass and if it rains...

    Accelerating when braking?

Yep no real arguments, obviously tesla's don't have TCC. The car was a Turbo GrandAm I even have a manual lock up switch in my 1984 RX7 that I put a punched out 462 Pontiac in with a 200 4R If I lock up the converter in first gear, engine cold 800 CFM Q jet still on fast idle the 4.10...

    Accelerating when braking?

In my defense, all I said was I personally if in the described situation would think twice before telling her she screwed up. I stand by that. I also posted up an actual unintended acceleration I personally witnessed more than once with my old bosses ICE vehicle. As others posted it was an...

Bought a model Y that I thought had clean title and found out it was salvage

Re reading this thread almost reinforces my belief that if you are going electric buy new, Then again look at the depreciation laid on some Fisker buyers of new Ocean's or Teslas sold before the huge price drops. You pay your money and takes your chances...

I regret my Model Y purchase because of seat comfort and seating position problems

Same i am a bit lighter and also a Fremont Y, I always take my wallet out of my right pocket or I am in pain. Without the wallet these are my favorite seats other than my 2nd gen Trans Am The seats have only gotten more comfortable after a year of use.

Did you own any other brand of EV before getting a Tesla?

Yes an EZ GO Golf cart , I also test drove a 2017 chevy Volt. Never touched, sat in, or drove a Tesla until the day I picked up the new MYP

Beginning of the end for Tesla

Wow Boise is even cheaper than up north... N Idaho averages something like 70% of the grid power provided by Hydroelectric so the price has been very stable and affordable over the years. We pay 10-12 cents a KWH

Beginning of the end for Tesla

Edit ... Sorry just saw the UK/ Ireland in the thread category. I see the high price of oil / gas driving more people to purchase EV's that are perusing new vehicles this year, that should offset some of the above...

Maybe try Cerakote ceramic trim coat. Did a totally washed out Jeep Wrangler hard top and it has lasted really well.

    Bogus "Gas Savings"

Most of the under 250 watt hours was @ 60-65 MPH with about a 1/3 25-35 Definitely less than the HEAVY 21" ubers. Before switching out the 21's lifetime average was 285 watt hours, 29" tall studded snows during winter the average went to 295 watt hours. I am hopeful I an keep the 18's...

    18" wheel on model Y

Yep, they will corrode eventually, and can lead to slow bead leaks. I was able to somewhat hide the stick on's behind the spokes. With some wheels there is only a small width strip where the caliper is actually very close to the inner wheel surface. As in the 18" pic on YP it really...

    Bogus "Gas Savings"

Enkei Victory wheels and Hankook Ventus S1 EVO 2 SUV 235/55-18" front 255/55-18" rear. The new Hankook Ions would have been a better choice but these Ventus models are also a high silica rubber low rolling resistance tire. They stick real good as a summer tire also good in rain but the...

    Bogus "Gas Savings"

The savings are now heading in the EV's favor , at least around here. Regular gas has jumped up to almost 4 bucks a gallon and still rising. Our KWH is ~11cents. I just replaced the 21" ubers with new 18's and my Performance Y has improved when I keep my foot out of it to over 4 miles per...

Rejecting my brand new model 3 Highland

After reading this thread, and all balancing options exhausted, including road force and different tires/wheels, I almost have to wonder if Tesla got a batch of bad CV Half shafts. I have seen this with re-manned replacements causing vibration due to either balance and /or poor machining of...

    TPMS on non factory wheels

Why not just run at 38-39 PSI and be done with it. I am running similar to your set up, right now 235/55-18 front and 255/55-18 rear tires On a cold morning they are at 38-39 PSI and when warm 40-41. Never gotten a low pressure alert. Getting some better watt hour numbers than the 21's...

    Model Y Nitpick Thread

Ventilated seats would be nice. Self cleaning camera lenses like the rear one on a Volt so the Vision system isn't so easily Degraded... Not specific to MY but Nav still has my house on the opposite side of the road though showing it correctly. A Year plus of bug reports makes no difference...

FSD 12 perspective from a previous skeptic

Agreed and that is a Lot of Tesla owners. Fog and heavy rain/ snow they fail. There are days that cleaning the rear camera only makes it a mile or so before being useless. The Chevy Bolt rear cameras have a nice feature of a sprayer and a spinning outer lens to clear the view. There are...

Urgent help with picking model Y today to buy

If you do ever do go on a trip to a cold and snowy location the AWD is superior. The charging will be quicker with the NCA pack when cold and the dual motor is also a better choice for pre heating so faster charging can take place. The HW 4 and better cameras and superior stereo as well. My...

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

Although this is no help with the other concerns, Doesn't your insurance include glass replacement with a deductible of some sort? I was nervous about all the glass on the Model Y, so made sure the insurance covered it minus a deductible.

BTW big changes in 2024 Model Y vs 2023 earlier Model Y

I also bought liners for everything and it does seem quieter. Remounted the 21's for a week and then switched out the 18" studded snows for Hankook ventus Evo 2's 255/55-18 rears and 235/55-18 fronts. They are quieter than the all season Michelins and ride better. Going to take a 200 mile trip...

Pulled over because of no front license plate

Yep. bought a Jeep from a police officer and he asked about the Model Y so I offered for him to drive it which he said no just a ride would be good. I asked if he wanted to see how it accelerates and he said sure so I punched it MYP from near dead stop and he got out the words oh my G...

I am trying the 18" Hankook Ventus S1 evo2s from the same ratings that was used above https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2020-Auto-Bild-UHP-19-inch-Tyre-Test.htm Positive - Excellent tyre with a balanced performance in all tests, stable in the dry and wet, low noise, low fuel use, good price...

Congrats, It has happened to me a three times and was very much directed with a side exit exhaust . Twice guys got on the brakes after spooling up the Turbo and I was blocked in front and behind so no where to go. Didn't help the trucks must have had the fuel turned up because lots of...

Smaller and Lighter wheels make you faster, more efficient, and offer better road hazard protection.

Holy Cow. That is quick enough to almost give a new Charger EV Daytona, with 670 horsepower, 627 foot-pounds of peak torque and a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds "estimated" a real Good run for the money :)

Smaller and Lighter wheels make you faster, more efficient, and offer better road hazard protection.

I have a 23 MYP not a M3P but you have convinced me.... Going to pull my 255/55 18 Snow tires off of my Enkei 18" wheels and mount 235/55 18 Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2's front and a pair of the 255/55 18's in the rear. This should be interesting versus the factory Michelins on the 21"...

Anyone use the OEM front license plate holder?

I did the same on the SnapPlate. Bought it, and never even mounted it. Our state also requires a front plate, but the police never seem to look or enforce that law. If they do pull me over, hopefully just get a warning and will mount it on the snap plate. Bought the Y about a year though so...

I’m scared to drive my new Tesla in the winter

Thanks, I am going to try it out. So it also disables traction control. Interesting, These Tesla's are such a kick, just when I think I have used most features someone points out another option/ ability.

I’m scared to drive my new Tesla in the winter

Is there a "less" re gen mode, If so I missed it. We had heavy snow today, unplowed roads. I do get what the OP is saying about the rear end but it only seems to last a second where the rear is wanting to oversteer slightly, I just count it up to the traction control . I decided to test it a...

BTW big changes in 2024 Model Y vs 2023 earlier Model Y

Just coming up on the one year anniversary with the Fremont YP, and was just thinking on this mornings drive how tight and completely squeak and rattle free it is, especially for our somewhat rough and pot holed roads. Maybe have to rethink that when the 18" snow tires come off and 21"...

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

Every dealership deal for me was like the "write the check" scene out of FARGO. Tesla is not a problem until their a problem, which I do understsnd. I had a couple little defects on the car at delvery and fixed them myself. I have little faith in the cosmetic fix area at the SC's. Here is...

time to replace tires on my MYP, need suggestions

Is there some reason you are limiting yourself to 20's? There are wheels all the way down to 18's that will work. If it is a 23 model. Running 18's on my 23 YP several others on here as well. Snow tires right now but think I will also get a set of summer 18's as well Discount tire was...

Does lowering the charging rate save electricity?

Is it also important for those in colder areas where battery heating is needed that charging at a lower rate puts less into the battery since part of the power is used for heating, so if you have the ability to charge at 48 amps it 'should' be more efficient, since the charge limit will be...

    Take control of vehicle!!!

That holiday update was when my car went off like above. Have to say it was so obnoxious and unexpected I jerked the wheel for no reason out of shock. Pretty bad when a warning that should not have gone off in the first place causes the driver more stress than less. Glad it has not been...

    120MPGe is it really?…

JMO but to be fair to ICE vehicles there should also be a cold weather MPGe test/rating. Say -20F Vehicle required to maintain 70* interior temp. I absolutely like my MYP but actually think that ICE vehicles do get cheated in the winter concerning the EPA EV MPGe ratings.

Cyber(nota)truck even more Not a truck than I first thought

Mmm rural folks. The cyber truck is likely not going to be a fifth wheel or gooseneck capable tow vehicle. It would work for some of what the RAM does. I think as a sport truck used locally for some businesses it is viable. Long distance heavy towing . NO.

    Model Y Performance

Same On the Y P I much prefer the ride quality on 18" wheels and 255-55 tires during this winter. I may start looking for some summer tires to order up before spring and have them ready to swap onto the 18" wheels.

I left my lights in overnight

It was handy for me the other evening. Tesla Y parked in garage with no windows power went out (winter storm). I had my phone in my pocket so turned on it's flashlight. Then walked to the MY and turned on the headlights, which allowed me to find the buried emergency generator that was...

    Silverado EV

I don't think ev PU trucks make sense for anything but sport trucks and being used locally. If they haul (tow) much weight a hybrid or diesel makes sense. EV Cars yes, trucks towing heavy long distance... No.
