Woo hoo - in production

I am VIN 44493 and my DS is projecting a 6/30 delivery to Tennessee. Yes, we do have electricity here, mainly because of country music. Anyway, if the VIN numbers are any indication and comparing it to delivery dates, it looks like the factory is now at a 100 car per day production clip.

I'm #45160, confirmed May 6th. Scheduled delivery June 27, in Raleigh nc. I reserved about 3 days prior to confirming...which seems to be more indicative of actual delivery date. That may be incorrect,,,but just something I've noticed.

@AJW - it would not surprise me if both of our vehicles are probably on the same carrier headed east bound. Since the Nashville service center is not open yet, my car gets to visit Atlanta, goes through final quality control and then put on a second carrier for delivery to me in Music City USA. I noticed that you are picking your car up in Raleigh which accounts for my having the additional three day transit time. I ordered and confirmed on May 3rd which was a Saturday and obviously a strong automobile purchasing day. It was also the same day that you ordered also. It makes sense that VINs are assigned in order of confirmation which accounts for my having a slightly lower number than yours.

sounds about right, Steve. I am crossing my fingers for early delivery,,but not counting on it. A guy in town just picked his s up in Raleigh last week...about a week ahead of his scheduled delivery. It seems so far off though since folks with vins that are a few thousand lower than ours are just now going into production. I know the 'going into production' status should be taken with a grain of salt....but still....it's like 3k more cars in front, to be delivered first. Seems like a ton. We'll see how it pans out.

@AJW - If they are producing 700 per week, then that is 2800 over a 4 week period. So if they are 3K down a month before delivery, it is a push but not unreasonable push, especially since it is critical for TM to get as many cars delivered as possible in the 2Q. I do have a question - how many times a day do you look at your Tesla dashboard to see if there is any change?

steve,,,surprisingly I don't check my tesla that often...maybe once a day. I do, however, check tmc like 20 times a day. I'm sure my tesla checks will accelerate in a few days. The guy I took the test drive with mentioned something regarding production around the 9th...but that was a while back. Nevertheless that day is burned into my brain as significant....I'm hoping something happens soon! I've just seen guys in the 41k vin range go into production in the past day or so...so I'm not expecting to see anything in the immediate future. I heard the same info you did...700/week...so not a huge stretch, but still have folks queued up in front. I'm just consciously trying to delay the obsessive checks as much as possible. My ds said I was still on track...but he'd know more once production starts. I'm getting more antsy as I type this! I can't believe I've held it together this long.

AJW - you are a better man than I Gunga Din. Last night, I was at a dinner reception and at the table was a couple who had an earlier Model S (VIN 92++). Anyway, for three hours, the entire conversation was "Tesla." We talked about everything from service to features to tricks of the car. I am a foodie, and honestly, I could not tell you what was on the plate or what was for dessert. My DS said my car was scheduled for production on the 16th. I think that these guys get estimates based on the week because that day was a Monday. He also said that my target date was sound, but anything could change. Wednesday, he told that I was inside the two week window for the car being built when I asked about procedures for wiring funds. Although they speak in generalities, these delivery specialists are looking at screens and know fairly accurately when a car is hitting the production line. They have to in order to obtain money and coordinate deliveries. Of course, they have no control over transportation issues once the cars leave the factory, but you cannot tell me after 42000++ cars being built and delivered that TM has not perfected its delivery system to a fine science. Oh, there may be hiccups, but they try to get it right. I downloaded a countdown timer on my phone. It is a great conversation piece dealing with my Tesla neurosis.

I think you are definitely right on with the "week of production" estimate. Every-time I asked, its been a Monday that they quoted. It confused me at first when that monday came and went and I still wasn't in production...but as of this afternoon I finally went into production.
