Brandenburg Concertos - Bach

The first one will be Concerto No. 3 - 1

Every time I hear that, all I want to do is go drive, the only problem is that the noise from the ICE and the sub-par stereo systems in most cars, make it hard to enjoy. I'm hoping that the Model S will be do the trick.

I'm hoping to be able to hear the electric motor so I'll drive around for the first while without any music.

Actually this is more true than you can imagine. It's hard to beat the amazing lyrical sounds you make with your car's electric motor. From every stoplight your right foot makes wonderful rising sounds and again when slowing, an almost magical descending note corresponding to the regening of your baby. You may very well not want any other music drowning out your accomplishment/investment/excitement. I did not play music for months and months and to this day just revel in the sublime up and down beautiful music we make together.

That is something that gets me excited as well.
But if I should name the first songs that I would play...
Free - by Natalia Kills feat. Will.I.Am (kind of fitting after having spent that much money on a plaything like the S)
and
Chasing Cars - the version by The Baseballs of course ;-)

Regarding the "music of the vehicle itself"...

It might be a fun to have an app that, given a USB microphone, can combine accel/decel info from the car with engine audio. The "premium" version of the app could overlay both (the charts and sound) over video captured by a passenger side mounted USB camcorder. ;)

So just how many Model S's are you buyin Eric?:wink::biggrin:

I think I'll do the same as mnx...sounds of silence for a bit, then apply the tunes as I see fit...something sophisticated...Bryan Ferry / Roxy Music or some Donald Fagen / Steely Dan...(unless my wife is driving...then I'm screwed... :cursing::biggrin:)

The first tunes in my car, (and probably on the test drive as well), will be from Norah Jones "Feels Like Home". Just love her music and it'll be a good test of the quietness of the car and the quality of the audio system. I also used her music to select my Klipsch RF home speakers.

My radio never leaves the local public radio station. But mostly I listen to my iPod. My iTouch (probably gen 2) won't connect reliably, so I bought a Nano which works fine and just lives in the Roadster. Lately I've been listening to Itzhak Perlman playing the Bach sonatas and partitas for unaccompanied violin. Sometimes I listed to the Paganini violin concertos. And other times to the Bach harpsichord partitas or the well-tempered clavier. I also have both Passion Vega and Marife de Triana singing Spanish coplas (a kind of romantic ballads, usually very poetic and lyrical). In the car, the relatively constant volume of the harpsichord and violin works pretty well. With the top off I usually turn the stereo off due to the road and wind noise. To my ear, the Bach violin is among the most moving and emotional music ever written.
