VIN Assigned, But No Delivery Date. Time to Pay??

I ordered my Y on July 31st and my VIN was assigned today. Yippee! Tesla is telling me to pay and provide proof of insurance now. Is this the sequence others have gone through? I may be a little paranoid, but I would hate to pay and then get a delivery date 3 months from now.
