So, my P85+ test drive may not be happening. :crying: I got a message from Jon today that the car had a little accident on Saturday (somebody sideswiped it while it was parked), so it has to spend next week in the shop.

This is super annoying for me since my airfare is non-refundable. However, Jon has mentioned that the damage seems to be merely cosmetic, so if the body shop cannot take the car immediately and I don't mind taking out a scuffed car he's still willing to do the test drive with me. (Major props to Jon for making the effort!)

He's supposed to let me know what the situation is tomorrow morning when he hears from the body shop. *crosses fingers, toes, and unmentionables*

Never thought I'd be counting on a body shop being super busy...

Hey so did you get your test drive yet? Any news on the car, did it get fixed?

Spoke with Jon briefly yesterday morning. The repairs apparently went well and I'm scheduled for my TD on Wednesday. Barring a snowstorm or something, I should be all set! (Though, after what happened last time, I'm trying to keep my excitement under better control)

I heard rumours that the Pacific Centre deal may have fallen through...

There may be some truth to that; just received this picture regarding my test drive tomorrow.

Tesla Test Drive Location.jpg

Note the reference to a store on Robson St.

I'm not familiar with Vancouver at all, but the Pacific Centre isn't on Robson, is it?

Had my test drive this morning. Upshot: I want this car now! Concerns about ride quality were totally unfounded. Had almost 3 hours with Jon to go over the car and answer all my questions.

Test drive itself was about 40 minutes and took us north of the city. It had a bit of everything; high speed highway driving, winding turns, and bumper to bumper traffic. Excellent route all around!

Some things of note :

- Tire roar was very pronounced on some road surfaces
- I found the steering wheel comfortable but very thick. I'll get used to it, but combined with the lack of lateral support, it made holding my position during high speed turns a bit of a chore.
- The store is NOT going in Pacific Centre, but in its own property on Robson Street early next year.
- Canadians now have access to the Residual Value Guarantee when financing the car (though 60-85 percent of the vehicle value must be financed to qualify)
- Had a BMW sedan (M5 or 4-door M3) want to race me on the highway. I get the feeling this will be a regular occurrence ;)
- Audio system was pretty underwhelming but someone had messed with the equalizer and Jon didn't really know how to fix it (I was busy driving) so maybe it was just poor settings.
- Test car was not electronically limited. I briefly had it over 90mph on the freeway

The south end of the mall ends at Robson St with 3 Robson St entrances (to the main anchor store). Sears moved out of there and it's being renovated. It's believe it will be a Nordstrom's.

wow, way better than my test drive. my was mostly a 30kph drive through Stanley Park. Didn't even get a grin. :(.

Re: tire noise. Vancouver and your route is particularly rough road. Almost as bad as the I5 from Blaine to Bellingham.

I'll be scoping out this...

The exact location is not known, however, the space adjacent to Footlocker near Hornby and Robson Streets has just been leased and could house a possible Tesla Showroom.

This was posted last week:

Yeah, I got the impression that was a one-of-a-kind route since I flew in 1800km just for the test drive. Sorry to hear yours wasn't as good.

The tire noise was noticeable but not terrible. We have a lot of that rough coat pavement at home too. Nothing rides quietly on it. I didn't have any music on to help mask it either.

I also should probably watch what I say on the forum. Tesla (or at least the Vancouver service guys) are listening.
Prior to my test drive, I was informed that they recognized my username and were aware of my online "presence". Couldn't tell if they meant this as a positive or negative though.
Haven't really said anything I'm ashamed of (well, I may have bitched a bit loudly about the price increases). Still, nothing notorious.

Was at Powell St to drop off the car for some work and met the new Product Specialist Robin Petersen. She is very enthusiastic about sales prospects. She said at a recent event they had 400 leads and she was already out of business cards. Bodes well!

She also told me she is planning a test drive event in Victoria, which we have been pushing for.

I'm pretty sure Tesla considers TMC to be a double-edged sword, but I'm certainly well-known to be a TMC'er and it's been nothing but positive. Just treat people with respect; if they tell you something in confidence don't post it on the forum.

IMHO it is perfectly okay to call Tesla out on something you disagree with. I have done it on occasion and I'm obviously a huge fan of the company.

That would be fantastic! I'm out of the country right now but scheduled a January test drive in Vancouver when we are over there anyway. Until then, and until the stock gets back in gear and hits, oh, $250-$300, I'll have to be satisfied with my Tesla hat.

By the way, note that the phrase "back in gear" is now an anachronism!

Hi all,

I was down in the Bellevue store last weekend for a test drive (which ended in me ordering a car) and of course was talking to the staff a fair bit. One of them told me that they are just waiting for a lease to expire on Robson Street and that's where they'll be opening up the Vancouver store. I think she said January was the timeline. Anyone else heard something like this?

Just heard from a business acquaintance in the area The Tesla store will be at 929 Robson Street in the location being vacated by H2O plus No timeline known

Hi All,

I'm new here. Just signed up here today and I'm going for a test drive with Robin on Wednesday. I live in South Surrey. I drove down to Bellevue last night and checked out the mall store. It was crazy busy but I guess that's to be expected on black Friday. Thankfully, the salesperson there was very helpful and she spent a long time with me despite it being busy because she knew I was serious and not a just another mall gawker.

I'm interested in the model S 85 since I need the extended range. I have a vacation home in Tulameen which is 30 minutes north of Princeton. The drive from my home to our lakehouse is 296 km via #1 to Hope, then #3 to Princeton, then 30 km on Coalmont Rd to Tulameen. I'd like to be able to make it there in one charge (without any significant "range anxiety") and any input from people here who know the route would be appreciated. I understand it's well within the stated range but there are a couple of high elevation mountain passes to go through (I'll be doing those in my Tahoe Hybrid in the winter months) but at all other times of year I want this car for that drive, and also for around town, for which range is not an issue. For those who don't know the route, but who have this car, this is from Wikipedia, and your comments on the range would also be greatly appreciated:

"There are several significant ascents in this stretch between Hope and Princeton. The first is the steep climb to the Hope Slide, followed later by the remainder of the climb up to Allison Pass at an elevation of 1,342m (4,473 ft). After the summit of Allison Pass, where the Crowsnest crosses from the Fraser Valley Regional District into the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, the road descends for 40 km (25 mi) before beginning another long climb up Sunday Summit (1,284m, 4,280 ft). Soon after Sunday Summit is the descent into Princeton."

I'm thinking that driving at highway speeds, with air on in the summer, and heat at other times (I would get the winter package), and climbing two steep mountain passes, range may be a concern? I see there is a charging station in Hope (non-Tesla of course but I'm going to get the dual chargers). Still, I still don't like the idea of having to wait around when I'm always anxious to get to the lake and I usually drive home late Sunday night. A Tesla charging station at Manning Park would sure be nice!
