Is Tesla pronounced "Tess-la" or is it "Tezz-la"? I understood it to be the former, but the videos of Elon speaking make me think it is the latter. :smile:

According to Wikipedia, and its article about Serbian Cyrillic, it should be pronounced as a soft 's', not 'z'.

If Tesla Motors was named after Nikola Tesla, we ought to respect the name of the inventor by pronouncing "Tesla" the way the he would have said his own name. That settles it - "Tess la" it is! Are you listening Elon?

So, rather than getting pounced on by TMCers for my ignorance, I bided my time until I had a live voice to confirm all the details of my Model S order. When she asked me if there was anything else, I popped her the question, and......

I thought it was "E"lon until I watched some to the Teslive videos where people said "Eh"lon. But since then I have seen media interviews with "E"lon. ???

Disagree. I say Tesla. Maybe the difference is whether your 1st language is Afrikaans or English.

I'm going to say TeSSla and here is my supportive arguments:

1) As previously stated the company's namesake is Nikola Tesla so that is all that makes sense.
2) There is no construct of the English language I am aware of where an "s" is pronounced with a "z"
