Tesla Delivery experience lacking in customer service

From my own experience, I picked up my MX in March and I've had a good delivery experience overall (minus an issue with the left FWD; resolved already). The delivery team was aware of the issue and was very accommodating. We went in and everyone was greeting us and the delivery person comes out and showed us the car and went through the mini tutorials after giving us the card keys. The people there were just very nice and made us felt pretty special. As prior the delivery date, they called my hubby to let him know about not having USS as a disclosure and they messaged a few times regarding delivery.

I do believe someone should've came out and greeted you and to go over the car with you. It's great that you didn't have any issues with the car itself. Congratulations on your new ride! It must be gorgeous!

Hi, I picked up a model s plaid ultra red today. Ordered May 23, 2023. Got a VIN assigned about a week later and delivery scheduled for June 11. Locked in financing earlier at 3.99%. Tesla then dropped inventory pricing by $5,000. I saw a vehicle in inventory that had the exact same specs minus the yoke. Called Tesla to change my VIN to the inventory car which after some investigation on their part regarding whether I would get the discounted price and keep 3.99% financing, they were able to assign me to the inventory VIN.

Early today I got a message about pick up. Ubered to the Tesla dealership. Walked around until I found the car. It had a card with my name and pick up time on it. Walked around did inspection then had to accept delivery on the app to get inside and inspect interior. Build quality was great with no issues. The screen cover on the main screen was dirty but i peeled that off and screen itself was perfect. Then drove off in the new ride.

What blew my mind was on a $120k vehicle I had 0 contact with a SA on delivery. Not even a welcome let me walk you to your car and show you stuff. Actually since I ordered online I had 0 contact with anyone at tesla except text messages reminding me to proceed with steps in the app and the phone call I made to get new VIN assigned. Good thing Tesla makes amazing vehicles because the customer service experience leaves a lot to be desired. Very happy with the car. Coming from a BMW M8 I do miss the customer service. It was never great but this seemed to have deteriorated even more since I picked up my MXP on June 9, 2022. What are your thoughts?
That's just a little weird. Did you have an appointment to pick the car up? How did they know you weren't stealing the car?

I didn't even know where my car was, first time at the dealer. It had a big sign in the window with my name, but I parked in the customer lot and came in a side door. My time at the desk was maybe 2 minutes where I got our Tesla black cards, Tesla breath mints, Tesla pens and a Tesla water bottle, Someone came and got us and took us to the car, it was raining, so my wife got a Tesla umbrella too (I think the guy was supposed to take the umbrella back). We were welcomed to the Tesla family no less than three times.

Anyway, you missed a crap load of free stuff!

I did 3:30 PM. I did get a message from Tesla via text the morning of my pick up:
"Message from Tesla (PLEASE READ IN FULL): Congratulations! Your vehicle will be ready for touchless pickup in spot number 85 at your scheduled delivery time. UPON YOUR ARRIVAL YOU CAN HEAD DIRECTLY TO THE SPOT NUMBER. Please click "Accept Delivery" via your Tesla app in order to gain access. Once your app has loaded, click the lock icon to unlock your vehicle. Your 2nd set of keys are located on the middle console.
Your vehicle will be sufficiently charged between 40-60% and your registration located in the glove box. A copy of all signed documents will be available in your Tesla account within 24 hours. Enjoy every electric mile. Thank you!"

There was no marked spot numbers. I did walk into the showroom and all the reps were busy. Walked back out found the car on my own. I mean touchless pick up is fine for me because I already own a MXP, but for someone older or new to Tesla it could be intimidating.

My MXP pick up in Tampa, FL wasn't that great either. I walked in no sales rep at the delivery desk. Waited for a bit then walked in the back where the cubicles were stood around like an idiot for a while some Tesla employees who had seen me standing there finished their chit chat after 5 mins later. One of the guys was walking out and walked right past me and I actually had to say excuse me I'm sorry I am here for delivery and not sure who to talk to, he ended up grabbing someone for me. The rep then brought my car up front gave me the keys, unlocked the car and disappeared. Was my first Tesla so I had to figure out how to put it in drive and all that by myself lol. Thank God for Youtube.

A Touch Less Pick-up. Not heard of that and don't think I'd be real happy either. Maybe a low volume dealer?

I picked mine up in Long Beach Calif at 10:20am on a Friday. Appointments were scheduled 10 minute centers. When I got to my car two other new cars were getting ready to drive away. The guy who escorted us helped set up our phones, set the mirrors, steering wheel, seats air conditioner, then saved the settings and left. I spend a few minutes doing a walk around in the rain. Made sure the charging adapter was in the car. By that time a guy I was blocking was getting ready to leave in his new Tesla so I jumped in, put it in drive, it wouldn't creep away (yea, I'd never drove a Tesla before.) After checking for a parking brake I pushed on the peddle a little bit and it took off.

The wife and I took it around the block before I dropped her off at her ICE. I heard EV's accelerated pretty good, while my wife was still in the car the light turned green and I floored it. I think I passed a Southwest 737 departing Long Beach airport across the street, much to my wife's displeasure.

Picked up my (gently used) Model S in February @ Mechanicsburg PA. Took a one-way flight to Mechanicsburg and drove it home (about 3 hours.)

Have to say, it was every bit as great as my 2 previous pickups at Paramus NJ.

Got to the lot, found the car with my name on it. Car was fully detailed out & unlocked. I could spend as much time looking it over as I wanted. Inside, outside, frunk, trunk, underneath, no problem at all.

Here's the card that was sitting on the dash, along with a clipboard on the console waiting for my signature on a few documents.

Signed the paperwork, brought it inside, met with my Advisor -- he processed the paperwork while I went back out to the car to play with the settings. He came out to attach the temporary plate and walk through the car with me... I didn't have any questions (kinda old hat by now) so -- I was off and on my way.

Really super process. Far exceeds any traditional dealership experience by a country mile.

I'm not saying the bad experiences don't exist -- of course they do -- but there ARE folks at Tesla who know how to do it right. Why they don't use our area as training grounds for the other sites, I'll never understand ...

It always hurts me to hear how much better your Tesla Service Center is than ours.

I had a great experience and talked to a bunch of folks when i took delivery of my M3. They walked out with me to the car and installed my license plates for me. She even asked which mats i got, i got these third party ones and she said good, she said the OEM ones were not as good. She showed me how to setup things on my touch screen etc. I think it was great. Lots of people picking up deliveries that day but i didn't feel alone or abandoned.

I must be in the minority here because I would love to have had this experience! I already know about the car so I don’t need someone to hold my hand. I can accept delivery in the app so why do I need to talk to someone about it? I’m sure if you had an issue you could have found someone. Enjoy the car. That one is my dream car.
