135 kW

Asphalt has been poured, switching units have not yet arrived, and the fence has started going up.

Based on what they have been doing, there is a good chance the switching units will arrive, be placed, and be fenced in before I have a chance to take any photos. But we must wait to see. :)

@Omniflux: Thanks for the updates and nice to see that you can post pictures now. Very surprised that the Distribution Center is not there yet. It usually arrives with the Supercharger Cabinets. They will probably have to get the Distribution Center in place before they can set the Transformer and wire it up.

New seal coat didn't quiet make it to the end, because we still don't know when the switching units will arrive. Have to keep that working area clear. ;)

@Omniflux: Great pics and update! Thanks!

This is a first! The transformer has arrived before the Distribution Center!!! That is usually an off-the-shelf part from Square-D. Wonder where the Distribution Center is?

No, they are splitting up and heading to California and Colorado next.

Did they say what cities specifically? Colorado is probably Limon, but there are several possibilities in California like Manteca, El Centro, Downtown Los Angeles, or Oxnard.

Thanks Omniflux for your great updates - with the distribution centers in place, it won't be long before the Nephi superchargers will be live!

What work remains before completion?

There are some large bus bars to connect between the cabinets of the Distribution Center and some very large cables to connect between between the Transformer and the Distribution Center and between the Distribution Center and the Supercharger Cabinets. These are some very large wires, but with a few good crew, it's probably only a day or two. The only problem is that the connection and test between the Transformer and the Distribution Center will take the cooperation and presence of the utility. After that, it's just a test by some Tesla folks. If Omnuflux can get some hints on the test time, you may be able to go down and take part in the test, Denarius.

Think of the Distribution Center as a very large circuit breaker box feeding each Supercharger Cabinet with a 200-Amp, 480-Volt, 3-Phase circuit breaker; that provides up to 150 kW to each Supercharger cabinet, and with 90% efficiency, up to 135 kW out to two stalls.

Here is a view of the bus bars on the inside of the Distribution Center in Blanding.

Here are the connections from the Transformer coming into the Distribution Center in Farmington. Framington only has two 120-kW Cabinets; Nephi has four, 135-kW Cabinets. Because of the increased load, Nephi will probably use 4 or 5 parallel, 500-mcm copper cables per phase, instead of the 3 parallel cables in Farmington.

They did not say, and I did not ask...

I did not get as good pictures of the distribution centers as Cottonwood posted above, but....

I think all that remains to be done is striping and final inspection and hookup of power by the city. Commissioning is currently expected for Tuesday.
