Supercharger - Culver City, CA (16 V2 stalls)

Interesting, I'll try them out some time when I'm near the old town part.

Harris Ranch is getting first battery swap station

In that video, there are no tire guides as there are on the Tesla's. The risk would be minimum with the guides in place (they seem to work fairly well at car washes).

There is a lot of construction being done on I-5, They will probably wait until things finalize.

And safety glasses. The Culver city crew was good, they always had the equipment on, but I double checked before I posted.

The Construction crew at Culver City mentioned Redondo beach, but wouldn't give an address. Looks Good, can't wait to see it on the map.

They seem about right to hold a large solar car port from flying away in a 100 mph wind.

So far based on the pictures...I only see conduit for two superchargers, so this location will have four spots.

Silverthorne is a wonderful site and pictures do not do it justice....but St. George's view isn't too shabby, it's one of my favorites.

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

El Centro are all pull in. Even if the spots are ICE'd, you can just pull along side and plug in. Not the best thing as you then would need to stay with the car but you can still charge. If Tesla could get more places to agree with placing Superchargers with that condition...I could accept it.

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

I was there Christmas Eve (sadly the SC was dark)...and will probably be there again on Sunday. Indio to El Centro and back in a 60 is a challenge, we left Indio with 190 and returned with 4 and it was 55-60 all the way. Now I can enjoy the ride. Thank you Tesla!!!!

One of my favorites on our road trip to VA and back. St. George Ut. at sunset. A bitter sweet moment.

Some of mine from today...remember that on Wednesday the other half of the superchargers will be closed for resurfacing. The mall closes early Wednesday and will be closed on Thursday so things should be fine...but next weekend after Christmas...be prepared.

    US Supercharges 20% done ?!?!

In addition to superchargers which Tesla is will be continuing to build (about the same number next year), Tesla is going to have to come up with a solution to the cost of them. Tesla announced a billion kWh over the summer and then two billion kWh in October, I can see a time when it will be...

Supercharger - Rancho Cucamonga, CA (12 V2 stalls)

Thankfully, if the SC site has pull in type stalls, it is still possible to get a charge even though the stall is ICE'd. It definitely creates unwanted anxiety, but you can charge while you wait for a stall to open.

Supercharger - Culver City, CA (16 V2 stalls)

I think that is on purpose, I was talking to the Brian (Tesla engineer) and he mentioned they suspected that this site may have problems during this week(might even have made an agreement with the mall). Perhaps, they decided to hold off making the site official until after the holidays, then...

That spot is not a charging spot, I discussed that with both the Tesla engineer and the construction super, the stairway railing next to that spot prevented the cabinet being run in the correct spot, so they moved to the next one. Has anyone checked the in car navigation? Is it live on the...

Supercharger - Culver City, CA (16 V2 stalls)

Yes, but right now, all of the spaces are not fully marked the seven pull-ins do not have signs yet. I was told in a few days they are resurfacing the entire lot (though 1/2 at a time so the chargers will be available) once that is done they will be re-striping the lot and that included the...

Culver City is fully ICED'd right now. I'm trying to get my wife to send a picture, all 12 spots are full and no Tesla's. Luckily I told her to go to the pull in spot and charge while you wait for someone to move their car. If you don't have too, perhaps you need to avoid Culver city for a...

Hmm...the only way would be the long one. You could get off at sepulveda or Slauson as you want to get to Slauson to Hannum. All the other routes will take some time. There will be security at the entrances to help direct traffic. After the Holiday's the quickest route would be Green...

Last ones... It was great to be there as Tesla went trough and validated each of the Superchargers. The engineer (Brain) has lately been overseas (China,Hong Kong, Japan, Australia). One snag they realized right away was the voltage was a little hot going into the distribution center. Quick...

We'll see, I was there for about an hour and no one pulled in to any spot. That could be because the workers were still moving around but perhaps the lights made the difference. I'm going to watch today in the evening, that is when that lot fills up. Last night it go a bit crazy with the...

The site is really coming together. This site is going to be ICED like crazy for the next week. Last year I made the mistake of pulling into that lot and it took 30 minutes to get out. Everyone was shopping... The workers pulled the fence in so people could park in front of the chargers...a...

As Tesla said with the opening of the UK, that because many places where Telsa owners live don't have charging capabilities, they didn't consider it a negative that people were using the SC's to charge. In fact they think they will just need more sites. I agree with those waiting to have one...

The five back in stalls are done and do not need any asphalt. Tesla could come out and do a quick inspection on the five, flip the breakers and then when the other seven have the asphalt complete come back out and flip the switch on those. I'm going to bet that one of the SC guys at Hawthorne...

California to Virginia in my S60! Advice/tips? Specifically owners near I-70 & I-64

I agree with it tied to cruise control, but I'd be a bit fearful of putting a limiter unless it was easily override-able. If I needed to get a quick surge to avoid and issue and I could not because I had put a limit on it, I would be a bit fearful. Cruise control would be easily override-able...

Oh..I should add on thing. Time. If you can get 650 miles per day...you are doing pretty good. On our trip, My wife wanted to save a day traveling so we took turns and did 24 hours a day for two days. Still, I had a great time and while the wife says no more, I'd do it again. I think we did...

Nice to meet you today. I think one interesting thing I learned, is that apparently when they started construction SCE reviewed the site and made a determination that what was originally spec'd (transformer), would not be sufficient, Edison needed to bring a higher capacity line in and that is...

I have a 60 and I did LA to VA back in Sept...I took the only route with full SC coverage (David99's route but through WI,ILL,IN,OH,PA,MD,VA). Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

Based on the conduits and the concrete around them. I'm not sure, it looks like it could be a HPWC type charger, but I have not seen very many SC installs that would have the cabinet bolted. Tesla pretty much sends all the supplies, and the conduit doesn't match any that I've seen so far.

San Diego Area Superchargers (location speculation)

I would think a twelve stall site (six superchargers), would need to be close to a main line. Like Culver City or Hawthorne. Hawthorne used to be the old Northrop AC plant, it has a main transmission line going down Jack Northrop. I know Culver City was plugged into a pretty significant line...

OK...I guess I was wrong. Last night when I left SCE was placing what appeared to be a transformer (though I had never seen one of that type before) and the other pad was empty so I assumed it must be for a battery. Pretty easy. 405 south, take the 90 to slauson, turn right, turn right on Bristol Pkwy, then one last right on Hannum, then make a left on Fox Hills Dr (you can go left and left at Slauson but the lights and traffic will take some time) into the mall, you will see the Westfield Culver City...

Apparently for this site. I've never seen the requirement or need to run a subterranean distribution vault to a super charger. If you look at the first pictures I posted, you can see the transformer pad laying on site, it is still laying on site, a much larger pad that incorporated a 3' deep...

Supercharger - Culver City, CA (16 V2 stalls)

It is twelve stations. The area before the excavation was small and probably wouldnt have fit a distribution vault and transformer pad/vault. It will be interesting to see this one as it completes. As far as a supercharger site...it's real, the Tesla equipment is on site now.
