I am shocked by the front damage (or mostly lack thereof). Holy cow! Must not have really hit anything in the front, but then what caused the driver to get thrown?

Didn't wear seat belts, had six or seven crashes before the final one.

What is the point of putting that up for salvage... Is there anything left to salvage? Maybe a couple of nuts and bolts...
It would be interesting purely for looking at the parts like the electronics and battery layout, so maybe interesting to a competitor etc. but I would suspect this has already been done. I think if you needed any particular part, chances are it will have been destroyed or damaged in some manner.

All totaled vehicles get sold at salvage yards.

If nothing else for scrap aluminum in this case.

I remember seeing a photo showing the driver's dash display still on after the crash. It doesn't appear to have been pulled from the salvage, so there's that I guess.

It may "work" - but it looks heat damaged to me, and who knows if the LCD panel survived the crash...?

Fire it up and get an error message: "Car Needs Service - Contact Tesla Service." I would laugh.

Anyway, isn't the instrument cluster paired to the rest of the car. Things like mileage and badging/car colour. I seem to remember reading that.

Regardless, guess scrap Al & Cu is basically all it's worth.

Does anyone know how the car was actually stolen? Did the guy break in? Was the fob sitting nearby to be found by the thief?

I thought the story was that the thief was hired to wash cars at the SC and he stole the fob and then the car.

This apparently was a rumor started from a Northern California Service Center. The person that stated this may no longer be around.
