Sorry for being ignorant, but I can't seems to find a simple answer- if I'm in AZ, do I need to pay AZ sales tax on private sale either for a local transaction or out of state?

No. Just got my MS from WA. Paid only $150 ish.

$150? For what? Is that registration? I thought registration was $75 for 5 years.

Also, how did you transport it? I actually just bought one from Tacoma, WA and looking for companies to transport it to AZ

Sorry rounded up. Actual amount was $135.62. $109.17 till 8/15/21. I did it at GG&D. They charged me $26.45 service charge. So that was for 2 years.

As for transport I initially call
Advanve Car Shipping and talked to Chris. He quoted me $900. Later I when on line when I wanted it done sooner and almost got a better deal. But Chris was responsive and talked to the driver and got me down to $850.

can we buy in a diff state with lower sales tax and drive it our state?

I am sure you can, but it gets tricky. I think there are different rules on each state. For example, I got my MX on a lease and have it deliver in AZ. Always register in AZ. When I decided to pay it off. Tesla Finance charged me CA sales tax. When I go to get new title in AZ, they told me that started 2 years ago, AZ started to charge some tax. So I didn’t want to argue. But I have a call out to a lawyer in CA, how could they charge me sales tax in CA when I never purchased anything there. The lease title was issued in AZ to begin with.
