Doug's talking about the cars that were painted before the paint station went online. Probably all of the betas and some of the release candidates.

Like the blue, green, sunset red, etc. Tesla isn't offering those colors initially, so one has to assume the cars we've seen with those colors were painted by a third party.

personally i wish tesla would add some brighter colours to the mix.

(As for custom colors, I decided I'll just get white, and paint it some other color in 10 years when the paint job will likely need to be redone anyway.)
