If it's AP/TACC, then that can explain things. The old AP/TACC code hasn't been updated in awhile, and PBs are more common with it. The new FSD Beta code smoothed things out substantially. The understanding is that Tesla will eventually move FSD Beta code down to AP for the cars that do not subscribe, putting everyone on a "single stack".

Is that a stated goal? They'd give up $12k per installation?
It's an assumption that we have because the old AP hasn't gotten much attention, despite known flaws and the likelihood that it's cheaper to maintain a common code base. Presumably, cars without FSD would get a reduced feature set, just as they do today.

I expected AP to be converted to the V11 codebase until V12 became so radically changed. As it stands, V11 FSD would make an excellent base for a reduced functionality AP. That is still a possibility, I guess, but unlikely, given Tesla going all in on E2E.
