I am a resident of New York state and i just bought the 2023 Tesla Model Y. The car is located with a dealer in Indiana, Indianapolis. I was told to buy the car outright and get it registered in New York. Can this be done? Can i get a temporary permit from Indiana to make the delivery and registration in New York? I know that there is no reciprocity between New York and Indiana. Will i still qualify for $7500 credit and 10K miles discount? Any advise or guidance is greatly appreciated.

New York resident buying car in Indiana

This is a question for the Indiana DMV. I suggest you will be better off to have Tesla transport the car for a New York delivery. The cost will probably be less than going to Indiana to pick-up the car and you will not have to deal with Indiana tax issues.
