Burnishing and bedding are the same process. Two different words.

Chad in Utah said it took 30 stops to bed his in. He was lucky enough to be present for the entire install and burnishing.

They put 10 miles on my car.
Thanks for the clarification. Where is the source of this official Tesla track pack brakes burnishing/bedding in procedure? The only anecdotal mention is this thread as I'm not seeing any documentation aside from what ST provides on their site.

It’s part of any brake pad/rotor pair replacement procedure per the service manual. Accessible via the service mode in the touch screen.

When the vehicle is toggled to a carbon ceramic brake package the burnishing procedure will follow the routine for carbon ceramic specifically.

FYI in the service manual for brake burnishing, it mentions both part numbers for carbon ceramic pads and the regular pads. The instructions say to just go in to service mode and follow the brake burnishing instructions there.

Pretty sure most of these cracks are now what is to be expected. There are some types of cracks that are not good though . However I had three of my rotor boxes with red stickers on them stating ”Major! Shows Major Cracks!” One box had no red sticker, just a “good” marking. I will find out what these mean, and who put them on.

Those stickers have me questioning a lot currently. My appointment is at 2:30 today for the install. I’m going to insist they let me inspect everything before install. If the rotors do not look good i’m going to refuse the install. Hard to say if Tesla would order new parts, give me a refund or just keep the money with no install.

Does anyone happen to know if Tesla has a warranty on these parts? I believe the rotors and pads are considered wear and tear. The calipers and labor should have something hopefully.

Just got mine installed and my rear Vossen Wheels don't fit because the spokes on the wheels hit dead center on the caliper, I had to put my Stock Arachnid wheels to drive it in the meantime, Has anyone had any luck getting a Wheel Fitment guide for these new brakes? I can't seem to get anything from Tesla. lol

The only two choices Tesla supports is the Zero G and the 21" Arachnids. I am having a set of 20's made by Signature. They have all the measurements from my car and are good to go to incorporate the specs to setup their other wheels. You can always reach out to Jamie at @SignatureSales if you want a set of wheels that will clear the brakes.

Likely it will be some time before any other vendors come up with track-pack-compatible wheels.

There was a theory going around that the car can detect that you have track package components as part of allowing 200mph.

I'm going to assume that's not true, but does anyone know? I presume once you have 200mph unlocked it stays unlocked even if you take off the track parts yourself? Although probably if Tesla takes them off they might lock the setting again.

Tesla is very hush hush about the track pack firmware and toggle. My guess is the new rear wiring harness may be part of the validation detect but again that’s a guess.

Had a rattle at the left front so I pulled the wheel off today. Someone either didn’t install the brake line plate mounting bolt or didn’t tighten it and it bounced out. Caused the brake line steel mounting plate to bounce on the steel shock area mount.

Ended up looking at both sides and found the right side only hand tight.

Went to the hardware store and bought two new M6x1 bolts and re torqued to 6nm per the service manual.

Yes, Tesla has the right to establish what they want to unlock the 200mph. I'm sure the configuration is checked. My question is whether "once officially unlocked" it does check if you changed the rotors, pads, and tires (say in the winter) to cheaper or aftermarket options? Assuming you could find options that fit exactly. Or is any attempt to modify parts yourself forbidden and will instead require a visit to TSC only, who would deactivate the free limit? I guess we'll find out when somebody tries.

Hello, I am starting to get some information on the rotors. ”all parts were inspected before being installed.“. Still waiting on the meaning of the red stickers. Hopefully Tesla did add them on some boxes just to relay that the rotor’s natural condition is with these cracks. Im still working on this.
We are all early adopters, others can learn from us. I’m still happy I got the upgrade and recommend it. It is like a new car. Almost no body lean when cornering hard, definitely an upgrade. I still think somehow there is enhanced suspension feedback/control even when not in track mode. Just make sure you inspect the boxes and the final ride height on all 4 wheels. This is a major job, especially if you are having the knuckles replaced.

Okay guys, so i dropped the car off at the sc today. After fighting with several service advisors and being given the run around on “we can’t show parts before they are installed” I was finally escorted to see what my 20k bought. All of the roots boxes looked to be in check. One tire was missing and 2 of the wheels were damaged. In the mean time they are going to be reusing my 21” wheels that came on the vehicle. At this point I’m about to ask for them to refund me the portion for the wheels and tires considering they are 5k and the tires only have 20-25 heat cycles before they die. Not ideal for street use. I considered swapping out the rubber but it does not appear that any manufacturer makes rubber in that size for ev specific vehicles. Below are some images of the boxes None of which had the pink cracked sticker (unless they peeled them off) lol

Greatday to all of you, hoping the following feedback could be of someone's help,
I had the Track Pack CCB's installed in Belgium some weeks ago,
My SC did the complete software upgrade and unlocked the topspeed.
All was done in one day ! It was the second installation they did.

Now knowing my 21" Arachnids doesn't have the BLE/Connect equipped tires anylonger. As these have been replaced a while ago with non "T-spec" PS4S 275 & 305's.

From what i'm reading online these GoodYear Supercar 3R tires doesn't have the BLE sensors neither.
So my guess it's rather a checklist they have instead of sensors 'reading' the car's equipment. Or atleast at this stage.

And yes totally agreeing with all your saying, the Track Pack installation does make the car much more fun to drive and oh boy so more much stable at higher speeds.
The CCB's should have been standard equipment to our Plaid's and also making the difference between LR and Plaid more pronounced.

Enjoy !

Nice write-up, thanks. I'm still trying to understand what about the track pack makes the car more stable at speed. It's not the brakes, and it sounds like you're not using the track pack tires, so it must be either software recalibration adjusting the suspension settings, torque vectoring, etc, that's unique to the package or some other undisclosed hardware update. If it's just a software update, you'd think they'd make this available widely, as stability at speed has been one of the big knocks against the car. Did you get any insight on this from your SC?

Thanks
No additional info or details from my SC neither.

My impression after driven 2000kms with the Track Package, it might be the combination of mechanics and software,
Due the less unsprung weight, sharper dynamic rates of the air suspension and the torque vectoring.

Not sure, but guessing Tesla will not roll-out this 'sharper' software to the general Plaid as to my impression it changes the car's character...
Was the Track Package something Tesla had into their sleeve's when mentioning the Plaid+ ?

Enjoy your cars 🤜
