Waow great catch!! Thanks for posting.

I fugure out that none of them have winter tires and we are after dec 15th... meaning that (by the law) you may need a trailer to bring your car back home or Tesla team will work during the night as they are used to, in order to have winter tire on.

Winter tire wil be a must (by the law, but even more due to weather) for those taking delivery friday afternoon.

Apparently it's some law that they cannot put the winter tires on the car until AFTER the transaction is complete. They will have us sign, pay and then put on the winter tires right away. At least i will get to see my 21" wheels for a few minutes on the car :)

It was too tempting, I just had to "stop by"...
Three beautiful cars and plenty of action at 9:30 pm at the new Montreal Tesla Service Center (?) ...

The one in the middle is mine! yeah!

There's plenty going on at the Vancouver location as well, where I swung by on my way home. There are about 25 cars there now with another truckload on its way. I spoke briefly with a couple of vehicle specialists who had flown up from CA. They were working to get the morning deliveries ready. Hans is apparently flying out tonight. One of the guys said the service centre will be used for the delivery events and then likely closed for a few weeks so renovations to the building can be completed. My car was there but no sign of my purchase agreement - I have my delivery on Fri. Here's a photo taken in the torrential rain.

I looked it up before and what i read is that the law provides for a grace period from "the time of purchase from a vehicle retailer and for a period of seven days from the date of acquisition".

Check out the the question/answer to this issue here http://www.mtq.gouv.qc.ca/portal/page/portal/grand_public_en/vehicules_promenade/securite_routiere/securite_conditions_hivernales/reglement_utilisation_pneus_hiver#cases

However, I would still rather have winter tires on, especially with the nasty friday weather we are expecting.

Well, no joy in Mudville after all. I got a call at 6:30PM tonight from Palo Alto saying that my car did not clear customs today and is still in the US. And so there's no way to pick it up tomorrow (Thursday). And from there scheduling gets tricky for me...

Ironically, it is likely sitting about 2 miles from where I live, and I may in fact have passed by it in the huge line of trucks that were headed into Canada as I did my patriotic duty and bought what I thought was my last tank of gas in the US this afternoon.

Well, at least my license plate holder is still true. My next car is a Tesla -- I just may not be getting it for a while. I guess there is no Santa Claus after all :-(

Very exciting that the cars are slowly trickling into Canada!

Did anyone at the Montreal location ask if more cars would be landing before Friday? There are more than three cars being delivered on Friday in Montreal no?

The financing is arranged through Tesla's credit team with Scotiabank. The application you fill out is clearly a Scotia document. I haven't seen the full final paperwork yet though - the approval, rate and term options were communicated through email. I suspect they are running a bit fast and loose at the moment. The costs for the Model S Signature with Pano roof and Paint Armour breakdown as follows:

+ Base Price: 103,600
+ Optional Extras: 2,600
= Total Sale Price: 106,200
+ Personal Delivery: 990.00
+ Federal A/C Tax: 100.00
+ Final Inspection, Prep and Coordination: 180.00
= Total Vehicle Price: 107,470.00
+ HST: 13,971.10
= Total Purchase Price: 121,441.10

Not included is the winter tires or the Ontario EV discount. I can also confirm with this blurry taking-it-while-moving-spy-shot of the Toronto Service Centre that there are cars in the country:

Thanks for that, Colin, much appreciated. The fees aren't as bad as I thought they might be. :)

So sorry for you! I sure hope we did not suffer the same fate! At least you live nearby. If we get stiffed today, it will have been a very long and expensive trip from the islands for nothing (which I would expect Tesla to pay for)!

Farmboy / Vger,

Hope things work out for both of you and thanks for the updates. I was toying with a Thursday delivery but it sounds like I was better off to wait a couple of days.

I appreciate the very professional approach both of you are taking to the delays and confusion. It is a breath of fresh air on this board.

Got my Model S this morning.

The delivery event went as follows:
* Show up at 9am, review some paperwork - credit card authorization for winter tires (optional), storage of tires (optional) and licensing fee, hand over financing paperwork (which I pushed them for in advance - you will need drivers license, insurance info and all co-signers present if you do it on site), sign for EV rebate (you will need a void cheque if you want direct deposit)
* Get a tour of the car from top to bottom - also serves as a pre-delivery inspection to ensure everything works, takes about an hour
* Get license plates installed - they ran out of green plates at the MTO so I've got blues for now until Tesla gets word on green plate availability, given an option whether you want the front plate holder installed (I did)
* Get winter tires installed - took a bit longer than expected because they didn't have an impact driver until just as I was leaving

Took about 2.5 hours in total with a bit of waiting because there was only one tech on site to do tires and plates. Quite a few folks from the USA up to help make the delivery events happen. It's a very fluid process still as they work out the kinks. If you are financing please take the time to read over the documents carefully - my payment frequency was incorrect along with a suspicious interest rate entry. Met Doug_G as well just before he set off for Ottawa - hope to hear from him soon about how the ride went!

My TPMS sensor and windsheild washer warning light came on shortly after leaving. Will reach out and stop by tomorrow on the way to work. Gave four co-workers a test drive and showed it off to two others within minutes of getting to my client's office.

Due bill - parcel shelf and green plates. Will update with pics tonight once I get home and put in the Lloyd's Rubbertite floor mats.

Congratulations Colin! Here's to many years of EV enjoyment. :)

The windshield washer indicator coming on is a problem with v4.0 of the firmware which should be fixed shortly, but I hadn't heard of TPMS sensor problems. Maybe they did something funny when they installed the winter tires.

Where in Canada were you able to find Lloyd's mats for the Tesla? Or did you order from the US?

Lucky you! Great to know they did not screw up the BC rebate for us!

I am still waiting, waiting, waiting!!! I pinged Jon, and he said any minute. That was four hours ago.... tap, tap, tap goes the foot.

We are also snowed in on Salt Spring. Hope to get off the island and to the city by this afternoon. My snow tires and the Model S are going to get an immediate work out!

The scene here, less than 24 hours until pick-up time!

Great summary. Thanks. Just a few more questions...

How many cars were they delivering at the same time? Was each done individually? Did you have any group type time or not?

Did they make any ceremony of any kind at the beginning? Any food or drink or it was strictly business?

I saw you are getting the Lloyd winter mats but what is the story with summer mats. Did any come with the car? Front? Back? Both?

@collinb - My ride is going great, thanks for asking! I'm currently recharging (my stomach and the battery) at the Best Western in Cobourg. The car wasn't out of juice... my stomach (and, uh, bladder) was.

Although I have to keep my speed down for range, I'm really enjoying the drive! Quiet, smooth, tech is way cool.

Only one glitch - and it's rather comical. Every time I try to use voice commands my iPhone 4S starts uncontrollably playing music - through the phone speaker, not bluetooth! The player controls don't come up, and the only way I've been able to get it to stop was to tell Siri "Stop Music!"

My iphone did that yesterday once. Only time though.
