    Western Canada Superchargers

Here's a photo of the Golden superchargers taken earlier today (Jan 24th) and sent to me by a relative. They didn't see any Tesla's and don't know if the chargers were operational yet but at least the transformer looks to be in place, which wasn't the case when another pic was posted not too...

    Western Canada Superchargers

A recent article in the Golden paper says that the SC at the Travelodge should be "up and running by the end of the year". This would finally supercharge the drive from Vancouver to Calgary but only if construction at Revelstoke is also complete (I don't think any work has started there yet?)...

    Western Canada Superchargers

Thanks @Hewey. Has a new transformer been installed or appeared on site? Does anyone know if work has begun at Revelstoke, the next SC to the east?
  4. H

    Western Canada Superchargers

@Hewey, many thanks for posting this! Hopefully work on the Revelstoke SC will also begin soon so eastward travel on Highway 1 will get easier for us. Of course the SC's will also need to be hooked up to power. ;-)

    Western Canada Superchargers

I called the Kamloops Visitor Centre this morning and no construction activity has started yet. No idea whether all the permits have been issued.

    Western Canada Superchargers

The Kamloops council meeting was held this afternoon. The agenda and other info can be found at kamloops.civicweb.net. $1,500/yr seems quite reasonable for the owners the SC will attract.

    Western Canada Superchargers

I don't know for sure but hope the Alta Lake Electric crew continues heading east. As of last week no work had begun at the Kamloops Visitor centre, Revelstoke municipal hall hadn't heard anything new (i.e. whether a specific site had been selected) and Golden said things were still in the...

Crossing the Montana Supercharger Desert; Any Generous HPC/HPWC owners along I-90?

Hi everyone, I crossed the "desert" a little more than a week ago going from Vancouver to Toronto. Montana and Wyoming were of course the challenging spots. Lincoln's charger worked fine and fortunately no-one was using it when I got there. The RV parks are good for charging and if not staying...

Crossing the Montana Supercharger Desert; Any Generous HPC/HPWC owners along I-90?

Thanks to notice from Gary, I'll be using the Billings SC tomorrow! I'm enroute from Vancouver to Toronto. Thanks also to Vger for his RV charging tips! I.e. at Haugen, MT.

    Canadian Superchargers

BC Hydro installed what I was told was a new transformer about 50-60 feet to the left of the photo and wires were run under the pavement to where Tesla's boxes are.

    Canadian Superchargers

When I was there last night I also took the following photo - The contractor is Alta Lake Electric from Whistler and is sadly unlikely to help with SC installations to the east...

    Canadian Superchargers

The Squamish superchargers will be commissioned by Tesla and Hydro by the end of this week, at least that's what I heard at the service centre today. I just dropped someone off in Squamish so, with apologies to those from the east, here's today's photo.

    When Will Canada Have Superchargers?

I went with July as I'm hoping BC will have its first supercharger then. The sign at Squamish has certainly been up for a while. I stopped at city hall once to ask and they said the timing was something to do with BC Hydro approvals. If the one in Toronto East goes up first that's great as I'm...

    Canadian Superchargers

I stopped by the SC site when I was in Squamish today - there's no sign that any work has begun or is imminent.

    Canadian Superchargers

I recently went by the proposed SC installation site in Squamish and also stopped at city hall, who said Tesla advised them that Squamish would be the first SC in Canada. The permitting process will "soon" be complete (a few weeks?). One of the required permits is for re-zoning. BC Hydro also...

Anyone have a ChargePoint membership card in Canada?

Chargepoint seems to be the most popular around Vancouver. The AddEnergie card is good for some rec centres in town but I got their card mainly for outside of Vancouver and have found it to be useful (necessary) in places such as Hope and Salmon Arm. SunCountry chargers tend to be outside of...

No more $5,000 EV Rebate for BC

VEVA (Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association) has been lobbying the province, and members have been writing letters, to encourage the government to find funds for continued support of EVs in BC, including the CEV program that provides the vehicle purchase credits. I don't know how likely it may...

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

@pairtrader, As far as I know, other than the new Chademo chargers installed in Kamloops and Merritt (for which you need Tesla's yet to ship $1,000 adapter), the fastest charger on this route remains a SCH 70A charger at the Home Hardware store at the south end of Golden. Tesla superchargers...

    Canadian Superchargers

The BC Tesla Owners Club held its inaugural meeting at the Vancouver Service Centre tonight, at which a company rep said that the first Canadian supercharger will be unveiled in Squamish during April. Permitting is complete but construction hasn't begun yet. The location wasn't specified because...

I was downtown recently and noticed that work has begun on the new store. It's at 929 Robson, north side, just east of Victoria's Secret.

    Canadian Superchargers

At the company event held in downtown Vancouver earlier this month, one of the Tesla salespeople (Robin) confirmed that the Squamish supercharger would be open by or in March. Others will apparently follow in Hope, Kamloops, Revelstoke and Lake Louise but other than what's shown on Tesla's...

Vancouver winter weather and the need for snow tires

Owners in the Lower Mainland may be interested in a different view on snow tires, based on some Consumer Reports tests, that appeared recently in the Vancouver Sun. See http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/season+tires+work+best+Metro+area/9159195/story.html

    Canadian Superchargers

I heard this last week from a Tesla employee. I haven't been to the location so have no pics - the Adventure Centre seems less than ideal as it's across the highway from the restaurants and shops, though land and power might be more available on that side of Highway 99.
  27. H

    Canadian Superchargers

Installation of a supercharger in Squamish has begun - it's going near the Adventure Centre.

Day trip in a 60 - Calgary to Banff and Back

Good trip summary! The suncountryhighway.ca map shows that there are also two CS90 chargers available in Canmore in case anyone needs a charge there.

Yes, a store on Robson street was mentioned about a year ago however this spring I heard that Oakridge Mall was a more likely location.

    Vancouver area supercharger

I recently used the Supercharger in Burlington - what a treat! Can't wait to see these in BC on the Transcanada. The charge was fast, close to 10x of the 14-50. After charging started the flow of power stabilized at about 365V and 240A, or about 88 kw. There was nobody else there at the time.

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

Morristhecat: Mine is 85 and I believe a 60 could do this route as well - it's lighter and should use less energy. My energy usage eastbound (westbound in brackets): 31.6kWh (18.9) for 121 km between Hope and Merritt (via Coldwater going E and Coquihalla going W); 17.1kwh (15.1) for 83 km...

    Vancouver to Whistler Planning

Those wanting/needing some charge on this route should note that there are two 30A VER network chargers in the parking lot of Gleneagles golf course near Horseshoe Bay. Not much to do there though unless your clubs are in the car and there's no wait. It's a challenging 9-hole municipal course.

    Vancouver to Alberta Trip Planning

Doug - thanks for this. I suggest you also include Vancouver to Alberta via the Transcanada. I did this last month and it works but needs some planning. Hope City Hall has one 70A charger and when this is being used (and you don't want to wait) there are two VER network chargers at the rec...

Charging options around Nanaimo BC or thereabouts?

@100thMonkey - As BC Hydro begins rolling out the first of about 30 Chademo chargers next week, I think the Chademo adapter is the top of many people's wish list, including mine. In the meantime, you can find an adapter guide at the link below. This is from one of the forums. I've made a couple...

Vancouver to Kelowna - Single Charge?

Appreciate the info, LottDenn. I haven't been beyond Hope yet with MS but will do so next month. Wonder if I can go from the Kamloops Visitor Centre's Sun Country charger to Golden on one charge? It's about 360 km and certainly should be feasible but I don't know about the energy draw towards...

Vancouver Sun - Tesla and Sun Country Highway

Maybe not the right thread, but thanks to Sun Country and their CS90 charger to help Model S owners charge up faster. If only there were more of them... I've found that Chargepoint and AddEnergie/VERnetwork stations have most of the chargers in the Lower Mainland, though at only 30 amps. I now...

    3G issues and speed

    Canadian Superchargers

We also need some SC on the TransCanada highway between Vancouver and Calgary and further east. Kamloops would be a good location as it should be reachable on a full charge (85kwh) from Vancouver. For now, I'll have to plan using the chargers Sun Country is setting up...

    Model S Canadian Deliveries

There's plenty going on at the Vancouver location as well, where I swung by on my way home. There are about 25 cars there now with another truckload on its way. I spoke briefly with a couple of vehicle specialists who had flown up from CA. They were working to get the morning deliveries ready...

    Model S Canadian Deliveries

@Vgr While the first possible date is this Thursday, I called Tesla and the rep said the cars (at least my car and maybe all Vancouver cars) are still in California awaiting transportation and might not be here for a Thurs delivery. That's ok with me as Thurs won't work for me. The rep also had...

Earlier this year Tesla was apparently going to open a service centre on Robson St. The SE corner of Commercial and Powell used to be Griffin Transport and this location now has Tesla logos on the doors and is being renovated though it looks like it may take awhile.

    Canadian Signature discussion

Received my VIN number (2020) today, after sending an email asking for it. In January 2012 I received an email saying I had moved up to Cdn Sig 7 (from Cdn Sig 12) likely due to people dropping to P. No word on a delivery date.
