LTE Reception and HSPA+ (4G)

I have searched the forums to try to find an answer to this question but could not find a thread on this. I apologize if this is a duplicate thread.

Does the Model 3 cellular connection step down from LTE to 4g or 3g when there is no LTE reception?

I often park in an underground garage that has ATT 4g repeaters but no ATT LTE signal. Will my model 3 have connectivity in the this garage when I get it next week?

I have seen mine go to 3g a couple of times. So, I can verify that the modem is capable of that.

Not sure if it's the car or just AT&T but I've had so-so coverage. Verizon is very good in my area so I'm always comparing it to my phone. One of the very few disappointments in the car so far.
