Hmm. We had been speculating that there was a single # scheme, with low numbers assigned as Special. Apparently there really were two queues, SSL and S. Now we have to explain why the S 1,058 exists.

No. As we've known for a while, there is a single S queue, with the SSLs scattered throughout for Roadster owners. Sounds like they have finally gotten through all of the S queue and done all of the SSLs, and now they are starting at the beginning again with regular S.

Agreed, but the reason we have Signature reservation #1058 is probably not because they plan to build an extra 58 Signatures, but as Sparrow suggests because there are holes in the list. To me that suggests that as Signature reservations were cancelled, or downgraded to General Production, instead of compressing the list and being forced to continually resequence the list, they simply added numbers at the end of the list. I predict we will see the Signature numbers continue to increase as others drop out and are filled from the waiting list.

It might also be that more than a few people wanted to get a signature in the last minute, so at each shop they were still selling signatures before they figured out that the sum over all stores was already above 1000. ;)

So regular sig #2 last week and #121 today. Assuming both were the highest numbers of their respective weekly batches, that's almost 120 cars. Not sure if it's enough to say that numbers were be skipped since the ssls are out of the way though... Could just be increasing the amount each week.
