Range charges supposedly balance the battery pack so that might explain why those who range-charge often have less displayed degradation. I would estimate that those who don't range charge would see higher ranges if they were to do so. Bottom line is that I don't think range-charges are necessarily good for the pack, but they do help squeeze the most range out of the pack. I rarely need to range charge but I try to do so once per month to keep the pack balanced.

It is a good point that range charging may have the effect of not only balancing the pack but also helping the algorithm estimate range by giving it a larger sampling set.
