Delivery feedback and pics for SC after a week

Hello TMC. I'm attaching some feedback and pics in PDF after a week. It goes without saying this is an amazing vehicle to drive - like you've travelled to the future. I feel very fortunate, and humbled. Some of these pics may not be issues in fact, but just the way it is.

I'm posting this not to get myriad comments on how awful Tesla is (sell the stock now!) or how the quality is sub-Kia. If you want to bash on Tesla and reasons not to ever buy one, please create your own post and please don't buy one. I am posting this to ask if other Model X customers are seeing these types of issues, and to be helpful to indentify potential QC items for customers. I think a number of these have already been posted elsewhere.

Coming from owning BMW and Audi - am I being too detail-oriented here with these pics? Is what I am seeing acceptable? And is this too much detail to provide my SC tomorrow?

I would say that .pdf would be a great help to the service center to get everything fixed. Can't have too much detail to help them make everything right.

Apparently in the futures cars don't need proper molding or alignment

I would be careful of using words like "tiny" "slight" etc since one reply can be "that is within spec" if they feel that you think it is minor and they don't feel like addressing it. It is a very useful PDF. Good luck.

Some of those seem pretty big to me. It makes me want to look over our car in more detail. So far we've only found a couple of small issues but nothing like yours. It looks like a signature, right? Do you know when it was produced? I know the signatures had many more problems early on.

Looks like all defects you've found can be corrected, maybe except rust - that's just crazy. What VIN number is your car?

I guess they build your car and were waiting for some parts (glass, seats?) as the car sat outside. There were pics of half finished MX in the random Model X pics thread.

I brought up the FaWD issues and they said that is just how it is currently designed

We pick up our Sig VIN #484 tomorrow. I'll be looking for similar issues.

Thanks for posting this. I think it serves an important function, so that future owners can be aware of these possible issues. I think that I find the seal issues and the rust the most worrisome.

If a vehicle has some or a lot of these issues, what can be done? Do we complain to the Delivery Specialist and hope it gets fixed or are these within the delivery parameters?

I'm sure they will have to fix a few of them; The "rusted" metal seems to be bare un-coated metal and would likely cause all types of stains and trouble down the road. The gaps in the wheel wells would also likely put salt and grime in places it can't be removed from. A few of the other ones could likely be touched up with a little glue or paint.

As for the seats and seals; They may be "In Spec" because they look really hard to fix and it there is no leaks it is cosmetic.

The unpainted metal is a little alarming as it must have been a conscious decision to pay the cost of taking them apart and repainting at a body shop later, in order to move the car out the door.

Thank you, very useful post. I am picking up my X on coming Tuesday, and will pay close attention to the areas you have noticed. To be honest, I don't think I was even going to look in the areas where you have found issues. Your post alone was worth the time investment I have made in joining this forum. (not taking anything away from other useful posts and discussions).
I hope Tesla SC get those taken care of for you quickly. These issues would have certainly annoyed me, had I found them, kudos to you for such a positive attitude about it.

This was one of the fixes they did for Sig Xs that were held up. These were manually cut out. You can see the corresponding area on the FaWD that was causing too much pressure. I was told the production line was automatically cutting that out now.

Based on what EM said Tesla revised the molding for the FWd and no longer have to rework it. Maybe the OEM is cutting it out for them now?

To answer your question:
1) No, pictures show big discrepancies
2) Not acceptable
3) Detail is only pathway to get them to fix

btw: rust really worries me and I presume your vehicle was left outside for some time while they came up with pathways to fix Sig issues.

To me it looks like-un coated metal. Bare metal gets surface rust like that almost instantly.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I sent these off to the DS today and they thanked me for the detailed photos. They actually said it was the most details photos they had ever received. I can't decide if that was good or bad!
