Put down my deposit on a CPO Model S on Wednesday December 12th. I wanted to detail my experience for anyone else going through the process or thinking of going through the process in the near future.
First, if you are located in NY state, Tesla will not honor a deposit you put down on a CPO in another state (with few exceptions), and will force you to pay a $2,000 shipping fee to have the car brought to NY. I'm not the only one who has had this experience and "apparently" there are rules, specific to Tesla, regarding where you can purchase a car. If anyone has more information on this, please share.
So I found a car in NY, and paid the deposit. The car immediately appeared in my Tesla account, and asked for me to fill out and upload documentation. Super easy and efficient. I send my local CPO specialist my order number and she called and asked me some necessary information. On the order it tell you that you must take delivery within 7 days or your deposit may be forfeited.
Then I was told I would be contacted by a delivery specialist in 48 hours, Friday, to set up a pick up date. This is where I would take my trade, already had a trade-in quote from Tesla, and pick up the car.
Online, it also gives you a pdf card of your car with its current specs (I attached the online card).
This is a photo that was directly from their Used Inventory website. Just FYI, these photos are NOT the norm. Some cars have excellent photos and others have horrible photos. This is definitely something Tesla CPO needs to work on. The photos I received BEFORE I made a deposit were excellent thought. Again, this is not the norm.
These are only a few of the photos and there were many more showing the condition of the car and any faults.
I've read a lot of horror stories regarding Tesla CPO deliveries and pick ups. I will keep you updated. More to come....
