Who has received mud flaps from Tesla?

Would you say that the small ones keep spray off the side of the car? What's a bigger question for me is just how well they keep the car clean. When there is any wetness on the road (winter or summer) the door seems to become filthy really quickly. I'm wondering how much the small flaps would...

Do you get loaner car when dropping off car for service at Toronto Lawrence service location?

They don't do tire swaps. I had heard this but arranged to bring mine in anyways because I was getting other stuff done. Apparently, they texted my home phone (fail) to tell me not to but did it for me anyways since I had brought them and obviously didn't get the message. Swaps require hoist...

Do you get loaner car when dropping off car for service at Toronto Lawrence service location?

Early November I got a loaner S for the day. Appointment was at opening time. Don't know if that matters.

Good deal or bad deal? 2018 Model 3 LR AWD with FSD for $45000?

I would expect cars produced earlier in the quarter to be going overseas so it would make sense.

    Rim repair and repaint

I had this done at Excellence in Concord in the spring while I was getting a bumper repaired. I think they send it out but it was $220+tax to fix curb rash on my 19" wheel. http://www.excellenceauto.ca

    This horse is dead, but.....

Preheating the car remotely pretty much negates this. Great for loosening ice/snow as well if you've been parked outside all day.

Ontario Buyers: Green Plates vs Normal Plates

One reason could be no gas taxes being paid. Don't want to give anyone any ideas but with electrification, governments will be looking to recoup lost revenue.

    What's your rated range again?

Not sure if there is a correlation of early LR AWDs but same here and I'll put my two cents in. Very low mileage LR AWD with less an 6,000km since September '18. Displayed range was a consistent 400km @ 80% until around July with it suddenly dropped to 386km. Not as bad as some but very...

Ontario Auto Insurance - Fault and Tesla Cam Evidence

I had a hit/run in a parking lot. Took the video to collision reporting for York Regional Police. On the way, I wondered if they could read the files on my USB stick but when I got there they just plugged it into a USB port and away we went. After we noted the plate, they called the other...

Alectra just dropped their APP Program

Hmm. Didn't know they had such a program. I checked when I bought my vehicle but didn’t notice anything at the time. The overnight plan looks interesting at 2c/KWh but not sure if the corresponding increase in the on peak price would have worked for me. Advantage Power Pricing | Alectra...

The "Federally compliant for incentive" Tesla

Call me cynical but this could change once they figure out what's going on. :p
  16. P

The "Federally compliant for incentive" Tesla

Very true. AWD purchasers in Ontario got burned this way last year when Ontario pulled back the rebate. Car technically qualified but hadn't actually been put on the list yet at the time the program was cancelled.
  17. P

The "Federally compliant for incentive" Tesla

This is meant to exist only on paper to hit the base price for the rebate. The intention is that most/all would still buy the "upgrade" to unlock the range but they'll get the rebate. Tesla wouldn't make much money on this car if any since it's got the same battery but just locked. I fear...

    Mississauga Service

FWIW, I tried to call the Toronto-Lawrence service to ask about body shops but kept getting an answering machine. I called Mississauga and they answered right away and sent me an email right away with the list of certified shops (which actually varied slightly from the website list).

    Sentry to the rescue again

Don't know about the cause and effect but the first day I deployed sentry with a new SSD, my car bumper got hit in a parking lot. I previously had a cheap thumb drive which died the first day I tried it. Got an alarm alert on my phone. No note left on car when I came by 20 minutes later...

Popping Noise When Turning/Going Over Bumps

Try lowering your tire pressure if it's high. I added air when it was -20C in January since it had dropped to 39psi. It's been warmer lately and I heard a similar noise from the left side when going over bumps. TPMS was saying close to 45psi. I lowered back to 42 and the noise seems to have...

Finally Figured Out Blind Spot Chime! (It's Quite Literal)

Model 3 has poor rear visibility and small side mirrors. The new blind spot warning alarm is fine but for this class of car they should have put lighted LEDs in the side mirrors as others have mentioned. IMHO, they skimped on safety here in favour of cheaper software. Personally, a warning on...

Eaton Center in Toronto is getting a Tesla Showroom

Despite who may actually "shop" there, there will be a lot of casual exposure and it will be easier access for downtown office tower workers to check things out. Tesla doesn't advertise so this is a close as it gets.

ICEing condoned in downtown Kingston, ON

Supposedly, it's for high visibility (PR) and so drivers will find them easily. Better to put them in a lower traffic area with free parking area. EV drivers will find them. :-)

Worth a quick call to the Tesla number to talk to property management. Tesla is paying for the frontage just like any store in there.

Yup. The small size is suited for your lawnmower extension cord. I found them at Lee Valley as well.

    Superchargers pushed back to 2019

Unfortunately, I think the only real influence is demand at the moment. Hopefully, something will happen by summer. Tesla is less likely to build out before the cars are there. In Markham, I'm fortunate to have 2 superchargers in very close proximity (which I've never used) that opened last...

Need advice: Is this location in my garage ok to install a plug / charger ?

No problem. Here's my install. Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug Was inspired by this: HPWC between garage doors? The Gecko hose clips make it really nice. Gecko's Toes A Tesla Organizer wall clip which I haven't installed yet will help as well. In the winter, the wire can get a little stiff.

    Pan Am Sports Centre tonight

Was the lot pretty full? At least 20% of the spots are "EV" and offer free charging. While that's great, 20% of cars aren't EVs. ICE drivers would probably not opt for an EV spot as their first choice but there are no restrictions and it's a small lot. I think you can only consider yourself...

    Pan Am Sports Centre tonight

Seems like a lot of spots to reserve in such a small lot. Google Maps Seems a bit unrealistic to expect that much demand to enforce exclusive use. Notice the sign doesn't say EV only. This was probably some sort of showcase for the Pan Am Games maybe? I wonder if there were only 3 or 4 if...

    Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug

That seems to have been a $2000 option for Model S (and X?) that is no longer available. 48A home charging seems to be the new maximum.

    Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug

So far never but it's quick to pack it up and take it for say a road trip as backup. J1772 adapter sits in the glovebox.

    Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug

Hmm. You're right. The charging chart here shows a max of 48 but that is for a "suggested" 60A service. Home Charging Installation What's confusing though is that the page where you buy an HPWC says: Silver Wall Connector Tesla vehicle Recommended circuit breaker for fastest charging = 60...

    Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug

I’m hoping UMC durability vs HPWC is not an issue. It’s tuned down to 32A already from the v1’s 40A. Not everyone needs an HPWC for daily charging. I’m open to an HPWC in the future but even though 80A capable, max charge rate for current S/X/3 is 48A. Rate is even less for short range M3. On...

    Wall Connector with 14-50 Plug

Interesting product but if you're going to go NEMA 14-50, I think it's better to just use the mobile connector. Plug is $20 vs $633. I installed 70' of #6 wire (which can support an HPWC in the future if desired) and a breaker box. $650 installed plus the gecko clips mobile charger - 32A...

Tesla price cut - Canada too?

Two ways to look at it. Take your pick. 1) Bad. Price cut due to lower demand although Model 3 production is more than ever. 2) Good. Tesla is able to lower costs and will be able to sell more cars without incentives. This is just a short term gyration. The slowing in sales growth was not...

Just got the update. Would be nice if they showed you the locations in a map like in the car. What's the point of just sending the location to the car? What would be useful would be all the map stuff and route planning w/superchargers and charge state available in the app IMHO. To be able to...

Tesla Winter Tire Package - Lead-time?

I’m about as close as you can get to Buttonville Airport. Came to my house a few Saturdays ago and not sure they were doing sundays at that time. Might be better since the at home window is about 4 hours. Don’t think I can fit 4 tires in the trunk/frunk but didn’t have to try. :D

Tesla purchasing GM Oshawa plant for pennies on the dollar

Well Tesla now says they would at least consider an old GM plant in a 60 Minutes interview. https://electrek.co/2018/12/07/tesla-consider-buying-shuttered-gm-factories-elon-musk/ Makes sense. Whether it would actually happen and especially at the Oshawa plant pictured by Electrek is another...
