Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The test cars seemed to be european spec based on the shape of the rear license plate holder, so I am guessing these are made in China. So what is Tesla's rationale behind making the new model 3 available for review so early in the NA market when the earliest they are likely to launch is Q1 2024...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The article comes off as a shallow and selective narration of facts with a one sided perspective. Elon's perspective on these facts, which he has talked about in depth on multiple interviews and tweets is severely missing. It presents an alarmist view of the dominance of Tesla and SpaceX with...

Weekend OT. I am currently watching this youtube video of conversation between Hugh Hendy and Mark Spiegel. I did not know who Hugh was and he is niether a bull nor bear on Tesla. I found it entertaining to watch Mark being roasted by another short seller for being emotional.

My understanding is that he did not follow through with the take private deal as there was no way to include retail investors. He mentioned Cathy Woods in the testimony today as having asked him to not go through with the prviate deal as her fund that has a lot of retail investors could not hold...

With out knowing the regional distribution of the difference between production and delivery it is hard to speculate how much of a slow down there was in the US and China where most of the production capactiy currently is. In the US the slowdown could have been anticipated due to IRA and to some...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The continued drawdown of the stock price has me seriously reconsidering my early retirement plans as TSLA is a significant part of my networth. I continue to HODL and when I look back I have added about 15% to my TSLA stock position this year with most of it at the top. Obviously I would have...

    Elon & Twitter

The twitter account TeslaReal impersonating Tesla twitter account is still not suspended more that 3.5 hrs after the tweet was posted. So it seems any corrective action to suspend impersonating accounts is manual at this point. It is unbelievable that Elon decided to roll out paid verification...

I think it is going to get worse. New Business Insider hit piece "A SpaceX flight attendant said Elon Musk exposed himself and propositioned her for sex, documents show. The company paid $250,000 for her silence". Elon's response "If I were inclined to engage in sexual harassment, this is...

    Elon & Twitter

Elon's timing on Twitter aquisition probably could have been better? He could have waited until Q1 results were out so to as to make it obvious to every one that he is paying a premium for a company with bad financials.

I agree with your views on FSD and robotaxi. While I believe Tesla is ahead of competition in solving autonomy there is going to be a long tail of edge cases that need to be solved mostly at the software level but potentially some at the hardware level(camera limitation, compute limitation) I am...

Don't get me wrong, I am a long term investor. I want Elon to focus on the long term which is what he would like to do anyway and not have any influence either positive or negative on the short term share price. He had said he would not be joining the earnings calls going forward and he did not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon's unfiltered responses are a big negative in the context of an earnings call where most of the questions tend to be short term oriented. Hopefully not too off topic but related to competition and margins. I wonder how Rivian is able to price the R1S starting at $70,000 compared to Tesla Model X that starts at $105,000. R1S has 35% bigger battery and two additional motors which along with lack of scale in manufacturing should...

I try to keep up with the bear thesis from time to time to validate my long term TSLA hold position. One such article that I came across is from Seeking Alpha. I am aware this is one of favorite platforms for TSLAQ. This article speculates that the rise in Tesla price last was due to a gamma...

I believe the 20% increase in energy density for the cells manufactured by Panasonic is to be achieved over a period of 5 years. Although Rob admits he is not a professional auto reviewer there are some glaring mistakes in the comparison to Model 3. Polestar 2 used in the review seems to have the performance package which has the 20 inch wheels and upgraded suspension and brakes. Whereas the Model 3 AWD he has, if I...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think what it means is that there probably won't be a sub $40K variant of Model Y. The cheapest version of Model Y will be the LR RWD version around 45K and may be a partial premium version that is slightly cheaper at some point in the future.
  33. L

    RWD LR Order?

This is awesome news indeed. I think the LR RWD version will have the premium interior and will probably be $46K. When the demand softens they will probably introduce a lower priced partial premium version.
  34. L

    Price drop

That is true. In addition the standard wheel size also increased from 18" at unveil to 19". The main reason for me to hold on to the LR RWD reservation (with $2500 deposit) is that that I did not need the AWD (I have a LR RWD Model 3) down here in Texas and there was a $5K price for the upgrade...
  35. L

    Price drop

I think this price drop will cause a good chunk of the LR RWD backlog orders to upgrade given that the difference is only $2K. I am beginning to think LR RWD will never be made and the remaining LR RWD orders probably would need to upgrade to LR AWD or downgrade to SR when it becomes available...

I made the same mistake of selling about 10% of my position in the high 800's. I had been a buy and hold but after going through the ups and down and reading all the trades other people had made I thought I should probably sell some and buy back more when it drops back. I was so caught up in...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So you are comparing the tariff Apple would have faced in the trade war between US and China to the shutdown of Tesla's main factory that accounts for 70-80% of output for an extended period of time? Apple would have come out that with out much of a dent in it's cash position. I do not think...

To all the people criticizing Elon, I am not here to defend his tweets but ask you to think about the motivation for his tweets. RWD LR Order?

I think it probably only means Tesla has a clear plan on when the 7 seat version would be produced and is just reminding the reservation holders on the wait time and giving them an option to change their mind.. Tesla probably hasn't decided what to do with LR RWD reservations or they plan to...

    Model Y price outdated

Model Y base price of $48K did not change. The biggest change is that AP is now included in the base price (I think it was a $3k option before). Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

While I believe Tesla probably will be the first to get to Level 5, rest of the industry will probably create hurdles along the way in terms of lobbying for regulations to slow down the roll out, allowing others to catch up. Also I do not think Tesla's current line up of vehicles is best suited...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

+1 I believe there is demand saturation in the US for the higher priced variants of Model 3 as Tesla's customer base is still limited to the early adopters/EV enthusiasts. The addressable market is increased with the availability of the SR/SR+ but I think this too will reach demand saturation...

While this may be true, it is troubling that Tesla seems to lack the proper planning and execution and has to rely on herculean efforts to save the day.
