Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I haven’t posted here for a while, but I have a question: The last two OTA updates (Now 2023.27.7) have changed the behaviour of the command, “Navigate to:“ If the destination I enter is the name and rough location of a business, all I see is details about that business, but no choice to...

    I don’t actually give a crp… 14 days… But let’s make it happen anyway

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Sure, anything can happen, and already has. So if the CEO is just making stuff up to fool us, while pumping $10 billion into a new factory when he is already ramping two that are looking about to prove themselves with sufficient demand… Don’t bet against Musk

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yes, the concept of “copy and paste” is too rigid for Tesla. With the new platform being amenable to “any battery, chemistry”, and the new vehicle modular assembly process., It looks like they are moving to a wider concept of “forgivable innovation”.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The Tesla section comes first, it looks totally plausible because most of it already exists… Then I read all the other “plans“. Many of those companies will be out of business by 2024 or soon after.

Always nice to see TSLA strong and closing so close to its highs

Ha ha, really not bad! I asked chatGPT, that always wants to be nice to everyone, Shameless positive edit! After telling ChatGPT to get it right, lol I wandered, lost in thought profound As lonely as a cloud unbound When Tesla shorts crossed through my mind Their delusions, oh so unrefined...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Predictable… Very true. My guess is that most of us here did predict it, but wouldn’t allow ourselves to act on it. In bull markets perceptions are expansive and reach out 10 years… as a recession closes in, so does perception… down to 18 months or so. Note to self…

Always impossible to call the bottom, but might be a good time for the effort. LEAPS decisions can work out significantly better when placed at as low a price as possible. These opportunities have been rare, and always look scary when they arrive.

Watched the flawless SpaceX launch this morning. Still working my way through dense content in AI Day presentation. TSLA has been pretty much my only investment since 2015 when I bought my first Tesla. Do I care about the tweets I've seen, or do I expect anything from their author other than to...

Musk always has his reasons. He seems to like the chair price between six and $900. I would be surprised if that wasn’t a factor in the recent split. With energy taking off, might be predictable for what the next split ratio will be in two years. Maybe 5:1 - 8:1, not to count chickens before...

    Canada - FSD rollout

With regard to remuneration for our interactions with Tesla, Tesla software etc.… I couldn’t be happier. The answer is, invest in the stock. Over the course of seven years Tesla vehicle ownership, I have voluntarily paid the company more than they have asked for, and in turn, I have received...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's a tricky question. When you truly believe in something, it's hard to go against the grain by selling. It feels like a betrayal of your belief. The question for me has been: Since Tesla doesn't pay a dividend, how can I establish an income stream without selling any? My solution: Use...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That should be the case. Unfortunately for them, many people have financial advisors who strongly resist even the first TSLA purchase, and then stay insistent with constant advice like 'No one ever went broke taking a profit'. Plus media FUD has real effect. Most people can't stand the...

You can turn it off with an up tick on the right stock. Easy and clean and the car doesn’t do anything crazy. A double up-tick turns off TACC as well, if that’s what you want

If there’s an interesting part, I couldn’t bring myself to read that far. I always wince at the WSJ’s knowing tones; “Those of us savvy enough (wink, nudge), know how a foolish rich guy like Musk is entirely out of his depth in the company of real professionals.” I don’t know… Maybe at the end...

It’s fun to imagine the firestorm of media shock and dismay if Tesla started day trading its own stock! Why not?.. The media is so obviously in the service of the short sellers on the other side of the game

Luckily, my neighbourhood has 'good' speed bumps. FSD sees them. Best design of any I've seen. They are about six feet front to back and have large white wedges painted front and back. Gentle, non-jarring bumps. FSD reliably slows to 18 km/h for them, perfect.

The Optimus bot may be a good place to look for answers to the question of Tesla’s prowess in artificial general intelligence. This project was introduced pretty close to the time Elon concluded that FSD requires AGI and that Tesla has made big advances in it. Also, even though over 100,000...

It’s worth it for me because I am very interested in AI and seeing what is on the leading edge of technology. It is also an investment in some future poiint when it will become an undeniable, essential asset. Even for me, when I am rushed and stressed, the FSD experience is more like guiding a...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I agree with your “final rant”, but not the rest of it. Musk does not subscribe to any of the tried-and-true patterns that most people see as inviolable. This is precisely why he is challenging the tried-and-true information model we are now living in. It is entirely based on advertising...

Some here have noted that they see is very poor performance from the FSD beta. I do agree that it is more stressful than driving yourself, or even driving in conjunction with normal Autopilot. However, that stress factor is implicit in the idea of using a beta version of driving software. It...

With my M3P in service for two weeks, I'm starting fresh on a second M3. Any certainty if I use AP almost exclusively - almost zero manual - do I get the same credit for what I expect will be a 100 score after 7 days? Or will some manual give me more credit? I'm guessing they see more than...

Some people say they have been dinged by it. In my Model 3 I feather the accelerator off for regen as my only braking, I’ve never been penalized. I have the most aggressive regen setting- I think it is at about -0.2g

No worries about having to sell your car… There’s no way Musk will enforce the safety score on regular Tesla drivers. But being a smart guy, you probably can’t avoid internalizing some of the habits you’ve picked up even in the brief period You have been driving under it. If you are in a place...

As stressful as the safety score process is, I have to admit it is making me an even better driver. I have always had good confidence in my driving ability and proper respect for the road. In case anyone else is like me, and set the car’s display metric from kilometres to miles readings, so I could see the exact 50 mph when Unsafe Following tracking activates, you might get a shock! That image shows only 39 km driven on the hard braking day. I’m still not entirely clear how it works, but I think it would be better if you crank that up to 100 km thereby reducing the daily percentage for that day. Then over your nine days you would get a tiny percentage for this day instead...

Question: Realized too late about the hard braking penalty. I have a total percentage of 5.4% spread over 9 days, which averages to 0.6% on overall score. Some people seem to say you can better this score by increasing manual driving miles while using more braking within the limits of 0.1 - 0.3...
