As usual the Economist does a very good job of representing objective reality, perhaps why I have been a subscriber all my adult life.
They do not discuss the emotional factors nor about the emerging transition from 'early adopters' to mainstream in EV's, solar power and domestic storage. Without a doubt, in my view, Elon Musk has done and is doing a great service to the world by his relentless efforts to make these technologies both practical and attractive to buyers.
I do wish that the Economist would take notice of the rapid shift towards li-ion in transportation. 75,000 Model S and 250,000 Nissan/Renault may be small in relative terms but these are massive movements from hobbyist to daily drivers. That commentary is obviously connected to li-ion evolution, but admittedly is a different update for the Economist to report.
