2023 Model S wheel change from 19” to 21”

I purchased a 2023 Model S a couple months ago with 19” tempest wheels. Recently I acquired a set of 21” from a Tesla Model S plaid owner who swapped his wheels for 20” track version wheels. I have removed my stock 19” wheels and installed the 21” arachnid wheels. The wheels I acquired are from a 2023 Tesla with only a couple thousand miles on them. After installation I utilized the service menu to deselect 19” wheels and select 21” wheels, I also the selected the summer tire option. The car turned off to update and turned back on. Yet when driving and decelerating from higher speeds >60mph the regen surges appearing to turn regen mode on and off. At slower speeds <50mph regen Mode operates normally. Also my traction control dash light periodically blinks during acceleration and deceleration. In addition I cannot use cruise control or driving assist mode.

SCE (Southern California Edison) Solar annual bill, is each TOU category independent for usage / surplus rate

I am about halfway through the year for first solar annual bill with NEM 2.0. Our system is undersized, and overall we are a net consumer. However with the winter TOU rates, we have a surplus in the daytime 8am-4pm "super off peak" TOU category.

If we are a net consumer does it matter is one TOU category is surplus? Will just that TOU category rollover or pay out for net compensation at wholesale rate? Or will I get full rate credit (not wholesale) for the super off peak TOU category like it implies on the bill?

We have 2 EVs and charge at night, but if I need to get the super-off peak category to a consumption, I can change our charging habits in the winter (although I prefer not to).

I just don't want a surprise of owing even more that planned (based on year-to-date charges) at the end of the year.

Different tires, front and rear (new on rear)

I would appreciate any advice.
Not sure if I should believe the statement that "You need to replace all 4 tires to match the tread direction, thread depth, handling, etc" when I could just replace two rear tires.

Here's my situation. We have a 2023 Model Y LR that we took possession of in January. Since it's relatively new, we have close to 9700 miles on it.

However there is sidewall damage to the right-rear tire. I would like to replace the two rear tires with Michelin CrossClimate2 which I have seen good things about. Tire warranty is 60,000 miles on that (although I realize I will not get close to that).

We have the 19" Gemini wheels and the original tires are Continental Procontact RX. So replacing the rear tires means that the front would have 9700 mile Continental tires and the rear would be the new Michelin CrossClimate2. All tires would be the same size 255/45 R19 of course.

Will the Model Y drivetrain be damaged in any way -- or any other ill effects?
Tire Rack wants me to believe nothing short of 4 new tires will do. What would you do -- or maybe some of you have faced this same situation.

Also, I guess an option would be two rear tires to match the Continental Procontact RX. However in the end I don't feel that the Procontact will last a long time and I prefer not to invest more in tires that do not wear well.

Model Y has FSD enabled but shows it as an upgrade still?

Very strange situation
So I recently came across a Tesla model Y that has FSD capabilities and has FSD enabled, but when you go to the info section of the vehicle it says "autopilot included" like the non FSD teslas instead of saying "FSD included". The app also says FSD is available as an upgrade indicating it has not been purchased.
I was told that a tesla tech employee owned this Tesla and enabled FSD on the Tesla and it has the full FSD package. I checked the car and confirmed that it does have FSD and also I can see the summon option in the app, so is this some kind of bug or something else? Any help is greatly appreciated. When a tesla employee gets FSD on the car does it actually show as FSD has been purchased or not?
I already checked and it's not a subscription of FSD, it's the full version

Issue with Octopus Intelligent & Tesla App?

Hi.
Hoping for a quick bit of advice from any Octopus Intelligent/Tesla users.

I’ve owned my Model Y for a year. Ever since switching to the Octopus Intelligent tariff a couple of months ago I suddenly stopped receiving all notifications through the Tesla app. Not just those related to charging, everything.
Octopus appears to be controlling the car’s charging & schedules fine so there seems to be no issue there.

Is this an issue everyone else here with Ocopus Intelligent is also experiencing?

I’m just trying to figure out if that is the norm with this tariff or if something has gone wrong.

Advice on Model Y Winter Tire Modification to 18"

Hello,

I purchased my Model Y at the beginning of October. I live in Canada so I will require winter tires. I was looking through the threads and saw people discussing 235/55R18 tires and 18" wheels.

Are there any warranty issues if I modify my Model Y wheels and tires?

Does anyone have any links to recommend affordable rims for the 18" that will fit the model Y?

I appreciate all of the help! This is my first car I've ever bought; crazy that I was able to get an electric car!

Sudden Change of FSD to older version

My 2018 Model X FSD changed suddenly to a very older version and FSD stopped working for stop lights and lane changes. Asking permission to lane change. Came home and reset the car. Still it went back to old version and FSD is not functioning suddenly. My FSD software is up to date. I put a service request.
Any suggestions? Is this happened to any others? Thanks

2023 LR Model S smaller winter tires.

Hello Group,

I have an extra set of original 2019 Tesla Model S wheels which I want to put snow tires and run it on my brand new 2023 Model SLR.
The original size of the wheel is 19 x 8.5 with 245/45/19 tires.
Can anyone tell me if those 2019 OEM wheels will fit on my new 2023 Model SLR?
I want to make sure they fit before I buy the winter tires and new TPMS sensors.

Front license plate screw size?

I've recently been looking into ways to enhance the security of my front license plate to prevent theft. It's unfortunate how easily license plates can be stolen, and I'd like to take measures to make it more secure.

One idea I had was to replace the front license plate bolt with something more robust and tamper-resistant. However, I'm not sure about the exact size of the front license plate bolt. Does anyone happen to know what size it is or have experience upgrading it for added security?

Model S Plaid All-Season Tires?

Looking to purchase a MS Plaid in the coming weeks. I live in the midwest and would appreciate all-season tires coming stock on the 21" rims. Is there a chance Tesla will change this to default in the coming weeks as winter sets in? Can it be requested or changed upon delivery? I have run winter rims/tires for my 2017 P100D that past 6 years and just swapped seasonally twice a year but i honestly don't drive in the snow much and rarely are the roads not plowed.

I went to Tesla for repairs due to a half-axle noise issue. After the first repair, the noise persisted. Following the second repair, the noise was reduced, but when Tesla returned the car to me, I discovered a steering wheel noise as shown in the video. For the third time, I returned to Tesla for repairs, and they finally resolved the half-axle noise problem. However, they provided an estimate of around $5000 for repairing the steering wheel noise. I believe that Tesla damaged my steering gear during the half-axle repair because I never had this issue before the repair, and the noise occurred when Tesla returned the car to me. However, Tesla firmly denies their responsibility. Can you tell me what the issue with my steering wheel noise is, and if it's due to Tesla's incorrect half-axle repair, do you have a solution?

Can I share a charger and have my neighbor bill me?

Can I share my neighbor's charger and have my neighbor bill me? We live in a condo building, and the cost of installing a wall charger would be prohibitive. I want to propose to the chap in the next parking space--who has his own charger--that we share his. He could add a markup to the hourly bill and hence recover some of his own costs. But for this to work there would need to be a seamless, hassle-free way to meter the electricity I use, and pay him for it eg with PayPal or Venmo.
Is there an app capable of doing this?

Any ev service in Turkiye?

Im planning to take a trip from norway to turkey the ev charging infrastructure is there, but i dont know about any service senters other then the one in Istanbul dont remember what it was called. Unfortunatly i dont live in Istanbul. I live 80 km away from ankara in a small town/city called Polatli wonder if there is ev service centers around ankara. If you are wondering i own a 2017 tesla model s 75.

Model X Rental in Canada

Is there any tesla-specific rental service in Canada?

I'm currently renting a 2022 MSLR at $2500/mo (including HST is $2825) from a company in Toronto, but period is reacing to the end next week and they don't have MX.

I want to rent a refreshed model X, but it's really hard to find a nice company in Canada.

Would you share your experience if you have similar one in Canada?

Gen 3 Wall Connector No Light

Hi everyone,

I am having a reoccurring issue and need some thoughts. I got my Gen 3 wall connector installed by an electrician and after about 2 days of using the charger, the charger would not light up. I assumed it was a power supply issue so my electrician came back and swore that the wiring, energy management system and breaker was all set up correctly. The unit still would not light up.

I called Tesla and got a new unit sent to me. The same issue happened about a month later where the unit would not light up. I flipped the breaker and the unit surprisingly light back up and it worked fine for about 2 months. I also commissioned the unit and updated the firmware. I also lowered the amount of amps that the car was pulling from the house from 48A to 46A. The wall connector worked fine for about 2 months.

Last night I installed a software update on my Model Y and noticed that the wall connector lost its light again. I once again cannot connect to the units wifi to update the firmware. I tried resetting the unit by flipping the breaker but still nothing. The unit still will not light up.

At this point I have no idea what to do or what may be the root of this issue. Faulty wiring ? bad breaker? defective unit ?

If anyone has any solutions or ideas please let me know.

Garage to small to reach charging port

Hey!

I test drove a Model 3 yesterday and loved it. We drove it home to put in the garage as part of the test because we weren't sure it would fit. It does. Just.

However, I had a sudden realisation today that we will have trouble plugging the thing in. Our garage is also the entrance to our house (there's a separate gate beside the garage door and path up the side) and the car is tight to the front back and one side. This means we need to reverse in so that we can actually get out the driver's door but that puts the charging port against the other wall (I'm in the UK so it's a RHD)

Now, of course, I have no car to test with so I was wondering if anyone had experience with solving this problem.
The questions I have are:
  • If I drive it in front first, this would mean clambering over to the passenger side to get out. How difficult is that?
  • If I reversed it in, would it possible to reach the port and plug it in from the rear window if I hand the cable somewhere within reach?
  • I know the car isn't supposed to move when plugged in but is there a way to override this so I could leave space to walk round the back, plug it in and then reverse it the last couple feet?
  • Any other suggestions?
