Yes. But that means they've achieved superconductor wiring that keeps its properties to above 120F.
That solves a lot of energy problems. Not just automotive ones.

Ok, I will take a stab...
It will be a call on software and charging... for charging there will be a partnership announced with SolarCity to have all new SuperChargers installed with solar panels and all existing SC's will have solar panels installed before Model 3 rolls out of the factory!

I'm just betting on faster super charger speeds given the new cables. Tesla is usually bad at hiding stuff before revealing it (though the 70D they did a pretty good job on). So it's usually something we've seen some hints on already.

If this event were not exclusively for the news media, then much of the general (non-financial) news media would not follow or report what would be heard live by the public from a company that does not advertise. As it is, Tesla will get wide media coverage of a product related announcement without having to pay for advertising.

That's a decent guess but it doesn't represent 100k cars so I don't see them holding a press conference for that. Though it could be something they mention.
