(sorry to revive an old thread) This is most likely the case. Tint shops will cut on the outside as a template and then install on the inside, because of the drop when the door is open the template would have been off. I watched a video recently where the guy just used a screwdriver to trick the door into thinking it had been shut.
Now, I have my own question... Can anyone advise me if 80% tint (20% light transmission) would be sufficient to match the panoramic roof and provide a decent level of privacy? I was thinking about 95%tint/5% transmissible but I want the privacy without making the back of the car overly dark.
