    4 year MOT - Fail!

As often as you like. It's not particularly punishing for the brakes or driver. I'm harder on them when bedding new pads than that burnishing mode is. 😁

Wheel Steering Tie Rod Fell Off on the Racetrack

You are meaning the wheel nuts? They have to be torqued to 175N/m but more importantly you should check them regularly if you take the car on track. As on any car. The number of laps you've done on that track with those kerbs doesn't surprise me that something has broken. I have done a lot more...

I didn't know that. Where is that information?

How many people are having connectivity issues?

Looking back at some of the posts it doesn't seem clear cut between Atom and Ryzen, for sure, but having as much information as possible can't hurt. Ultimately, Tesla have the most data and if they haven't been able to see a pattern, I can't see how they're going to fix it, especially if it's a...

How many people are having connectivity issues?

I'm chasing a problem we have with Track Mode in the Model 3 but it only affects Intel Atom-based models. Ryzen works OK. When I spoke to them about they suggested there may be a link between that and the connectivity issue. I'm not convinced of that myself, but there's a possibility. So just...

Wheel Steering Tie Rod Fell Off on the Racetrack

There are 5 or 6 left hand corners and 2 or 3 right handers on that track where both cars are riding the kerbs and that T12 kerb looks like the worst one to me. Jim's tie rod didn't break because of T10, it just decided to let go at that point on the track. If it was his left side one like yours...

Wheel Steering Tie Rod Fell Off on the Racetrack

First one I've heard of, but some kerbs can be very hard on suspension. Would be interesting to see the kerbs you're referring to @wzj998 Any photos of those corners available?

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

This is the sort of thing I'm hoping is going to turn up soon. In some respects, it might be better to tactically withdraw from some areas to let the surviving assault groups form into larger holding positions, then hit those with artillery, mortars and the larger kamikazee drones we've recently...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Pulling the various reports together I've seen suggests the following (in the border area above Kharkiv): 1. There aren't enough Russian troops to capture a large city like Kharkiv, but it's one of their targets currently. 2. Kharkiv isn't within artillery range so they need to create a 'buffer...

    Wheel alignment cost at SC

The takeaway here is that Tesla are not alignment specialists. Neither are BMW, Porsche, Mercedes and the rest. Same as tyre fitting. They charge more than a good indy tyre place because they don't specialise in tyres. You pay the same hourly rate for all work at any dealer so if you don't want...

    Wheel alignment cost at SC

For the record, I checked with my contact in Tesla and certainly Bristol, Cardiff, Guildford and Chelmsford all have their own alignment ramps so if they do ever farm out an alignment it will be because of some circumstance such as the ramp being out of action or over-booked. But, my advice is...

    Wheel alignment cost at SC

Ok fair enough. They are very meticulous and do a very careful job so the price obvously reflects that! I'd still use them over Guildford SC if the proce was the same though.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

It's counter-productive for Ukraine to be targetting civilians. They have a small number of (generally) high precision weapons and use them accordingly - to strike targets which will disrupt Russia's further occupation and destruction of Ukraine. There are plenty of well documented cases of...

    Wheel alignment cost at SC

I haven't heard of centres taking the cars off site for alignments, so just because one might doesn't mean the others do. Not that I'd use a Tesla SC for an alignment anyway, because there are better options. @thewanted For Guildford, the place I've used who are very experienced and know Teslas...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

It's really not politics, although that answer is often given by Russians wanting to pretend nothing is going to affect them and they can't do anything about it anyway. It's all about your deranged leader wanting to go back in time and grab all the land and resources he thinks should be his and...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Agree it's not all about wealth, but for a 'poor' region your infrastructure looks pretty good from what you've said and you do own a Tesla, after all. Recruiting for the war is also about ethnic origins and other factors, but you can't deny the closer you are to Moscow, the less likely it is...
  20. Dangerous Fish

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Sure, but as seen from the map I posted, they aren't recruiting from your region anywhere near as much as other, less affluent, ones. It doesn't surprise me you are less affected by the war in your location. Putin is trying to keep you and people like you isolated from the effects as much as...

    carbon fiber rear spoiler deterioration

OK I'll chip in, but not sure how much help it's going to be! First off, you're wrong about Tesla's profit margin on them. Some Tesla parts look overpriced, others seem very reasonable. It's all about who makes them and how many they make as well as the quality of the part. But the Tesla spoiler...

@AlekseiNovikov Let's get down to basics before going any further. Why did Russia invade Ukraine in 2022 and how do you think your country will benefit if you win this war?

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

We're all fed propaganda on a daily basis but as @iPlug says it's how you deal with it, cross check it and verify it which makes the difference. Maybe our Russian friend is open minded and challenges the Russian narrative. We'll see.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

In this war we often have to look at how likely a cause is based on previous data. In this case it's more likely to have been caused by your home side if you think about it and consider all the possibilities. But of course we don't know what factual information you have access to, so you may...

    Wheel alignment cost at SC

Anywhere offering a 'free' alignment included in the tyre fitting is going to do a rubbsh job I'm afraid. Good alignment needs to be done properly by trained staff on a decent machine and they cost money. There is very little profit in selling/fitting tyres these days. It's not mean, it's sound...

Multiple M3Ps dropping out of Track Mode for no reason

Very interesting re: the hazards. Maybe the turn signals/hazards are also contributing to the disengagements? It's just too random though to see an obvious pattern. I spent a good hour one day driving around my loacal roads trying to get a disengagement I could capture on a camera pointed at...

Multiple M3Ps dropping out of Track Mode for no reason

Someone here tried that when we first saw the issue back in February. He reported it still disengaged, but not as often. It may be that the added load of writing the data to the USB is making things worse, but the root cause is still there.

One of us in the UK got a call from Tesla a few weeks ago and was told: "...issue has been escalated to the highest level and has been confirmed as a MCU software issue. It is being looked at but no time frame. Chap said he had never seen an issue raised this high before." I take that last...

Highland suspension on 2019 Model 3

The original OE rear dampers are the worst part. Too little travel and not consistent. We dyno'd the OE dampers and the fronts weren't that bad compared to the rears. TBH anyone not happy with the stock Model 3 suspension feel might find changing just the rear dampers to Highland-spec is a...

Time to change a basic Supercharging design?

It happens here in the UK too at specific locations which are presumably quiet and with a nearby population of scrotes. The value of the reclaimed copper is really quite low but I suppose these people are happy to do whatever for a few £/$. The only answer for the moment would be highly...

Multiple M3Ps dropping out of Track Mode for no reason

I've just been out to test 3 different storage devices in TM. They all behaved the same when it came to the data repeating in the .CSV file when timing is started. None of them showed the really bad stuttering or disengagements, but that happens randomly and isn't easy to reproduce. I have a...

Highland suspension on 2019 Model 3

The best thing about a Tesla is there are no servicing costs…

Yes, they'll be able to sort pretty much anything out for you there. They are happy to tackle upgrades on Teslas too (brakes, suspension etc.). It's so difficult to find garages who do a good job for a fair price and don't run a mile when you mention the word "electric" it seems, but I've found...

That Feloni dronegun is supposedly a .223 (5.56mm) rather than .22. There's a fair bit more recoil from a .223 compared to a .22 but not enough to upset a drone I think. Judging by the number of sites publishing the press release I don't think it's fake as such but I don't think it actually...
