Wait. 3P-? What the heck is that? You might be able to still get one, just ask. I am waiting for an off menu 3P-, doesn’t hurt to try

Ha... speaking of the worst … Most of my neighbors drive F-150, so my 16 mpg MDX was a "green" car here. … it's so funny to see kids puzzled how to open an M3 door in the school's drop off driveway. I wonder for how long I will feel like a unicorn in our neighborhood. She loves the Jeep Commander - we are going to have the best and the worst cars for the planet in the same garage.
...Maybe I'll just set it up to keep the cabin from getting too hot in the summer sun with the black interior. And let it be in winter
I would would be all over that if I could do that now! The person I'm working with called me a while back - maybe end of last quarter and offered me that config. I just wasn't ready. I was still working on the wife acceptance factor at the time or I would have made it happen somehow.Performance model 3 with 18” wheels, standard brakes and suspension, and no spoiler. I think this will be huge for her for sure!Lived in Michigan. The thought of stopping all the time to fill up a gasser is off-putting. Standing out in the cold at a pump it yourself Gas station. Standing in all that slush and salt saturated mush, waiting for the tank to fill up would be torture.
I will do this for sure no matter which one I get. Less worry about mileage loss since it would be summer. 104 is mild compared to what the sun would do to a black interior without it.If you don't turn off "Cabin OverHeat Protection" feature, I think it helps tremendously. With that feature on, your car will automatically use fan / HVAC to make sure it's never above 104F. Yes, 104F sounds very hot but it is still very much cooler than without "Cabin OverHeat Protection". So, even when I don't pre-HVAC, it's still very good
This statement puts another question in my mind. Sorry .I'm glad I have the LR AWD - but it's because I want all the software accoutrements, not because I need the range.
1st post be gentle
My wife caved in front of my father in law and is letting me buy her an M3 SR+ for my 50th birthday! Yea that sentence does not make a ton of sense but hey - I gotta chose my battles.
I am very excited just to have one in the garage and drive occasionally. I just texted the news to the delivery specialist that I have been talking to and he said he would call me in the morning.
A couple questions if I may...
Question 1 with pretext: I am in Michigan and the wife needs a reliable car for work as a visiting nurse (house calls). Being in Michigan (a non tesla sale state) can I count on the mobile ranger service for most new car problems if/when they arise? I know for the major things the car would have to go away. Will they pick it up and haul it to a service center? Or would I have to drive (if it can still move) it to a service center 2-3 hours away?
Daily scenario by the way is this:
*Mostly city driving
*50 to 80 miles per day
*Snow tires in winter
*Heated garage and charging to 90% nightly.
*8 to 10 stops per day
*I will set the climate control to keep the car warm in the winter and cool in the summer while she is with patients.
Question 2: With the above in mind is SR plus a workable solution - even during the coldest days of winter(10 degrees F)?
For super bad road days I will swap with her and she will get the jeep and I will work from home. Sick patients need care even in a blizzard.
Thanks! I'm super geeked right now if you couldn't tell.
Todd

I'm ok with no satellite maps but is a bunch more missing on the SR+? I'm counting on having Spotify when v10 hits. I'm not losing stuff like that if I go SR+ am I?
Thanks dmurphy - I think this would be the last straw for SR+ - that's a bummer - but it is also an excuse!Sadly, yes ... the in-car streaming only is on the LR versions.

Just to put a wrench in the mix, I live inToronto, so similar weather, we have a 2017 Model X 75D with a range of 381 km (236 miles) when new, now 370 km (230 miles) now at 48,000 km (roughly 30k miles) so very similar range to the Model 3 SR+ and it has not been a problem. We charge it at home every few days or at the supercharger on trips. The efficiency is worse than a Model 3 because of the additional weight of the vehicle so the Model 3 should be even better. On cold mornings we preheat in the garage and also 5 mins before leaving work. It’s very manageable. No regrets. Sure more range is always better but the price difference made it prohibitive. In the dead of winter I still get 70% of my charge. I highly recommend winter tires thought. We’ve traveled to Baltimore in the middle of winter with no issues. There are plenty of superchargers on the highways now and more so than two and a half years ago. With more to come still. We plan to keep our X many many more years. More is not always better!
