I was charging my model 3 for
A long trip this morning and I see this icon next to the battery icon. I have never seen it so I was wondering what it was? Outside temperature is about 45. Also notice the orange charging slider.
@dvaquerano and I believe the orange is to caution you that you've set your charge limit to 100%. Doing so is fine for the occasional road trip or extended drive of course.
EDIT: unless of course you've got an SR+ with the LFP battery, in which case 100% on the daily is fine.
In addition, once you charge it to 100% you need to start driving soon. Keeping a fully 100% charged battery sitting idle for a long time is not advisable.
Thanks everyone, this icon actually popped up after it completed charging to 100% and I enabled defrost. So I actually thought it was more of a “battery too warm” sort of message rather than “battery pre heating”. I did have preconditioning set to 7:30am and I took this capture around 7:40am.
Once I started driving regen was disabled(dotted line to about middle) as expected.
I rarely charge to more than 80% and it’s my first winter with the car so I am not very familiar with all the visualizations and color changes
I’m pretty sure the regen is unavailable because energy can’t be added to the battery when at 100%
Otherwise, the preheated battery would be ready for regen and you should not see the dots.
For the record - when I said “I know this is old” I meant the post because I’m an idiot and was looking at the wrong date and it was too late to edit. Don’t mind me!
