1. 1976 Datsun B-210 (Dick Datsun, the White Shadow). First car, bought used. Loved that thing and thrashed it to within one inch of it's life.
2. 1978 VW Scirocco (2nd gen). Bruno the Bronze Wonder. Bought used. LOVED that guy! By the time I was done, there were essentially no valves left on that poor guy. But oh boy did I have fun.
3. 1983 VW Scirocco (3rd gen, I think). The Blade. Loved my first so much I had to buy another. A great and flawless experience. So funny that only 90HP was a trill way back then. I think my phone has more horsepower than that thing!
4. 1991 or 1992 Eagle Talon turbo (can't remember). Tommy Talon. Fun, but HATED the car due to its WAY too peaky turbo, and hated the Chrysler dealer so much that I will NEVER buy another Chrysler product. Sold it within a year.
5. 1993 Acura Legend Coupe with manny tranny. Luxo Jet (Hey, it was the 90's). Great car and loved it. But the clutch was a disaster. Surprising for a Honda.
6. HUGE change: 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon, white. Looked like a refrigerator with tires. Inga (YaInga was the plate, She's from Sweden!). I loved that car. Lightning fast and I could go to Home Depot and buy all the crap I ever wanted. I even got a full sized 8ft couch in the back! Totaled when a Santa Clara Sheriff rear ended me because he wasn't watching the road (moron). Paid for and I planned on keeping her forever. I was heartbroken.
7. 2004 Subaru Outback. Rebound from my love affair with Inga. OK car, but I hated the tranny and the seats. Dumped after a year.
8: 2003 Volvo XC 70 used. Trying to rekindle my love affair with Inga, I guess. Refreshed the ECU to turn her into a screamer. Her name was Vilma, again from Sweden. A complete f-ing lemon and a huge disappointing bummer. But it was like driving a darn limo, it was so comfortable.
9: 2007 Acura RDX SHAWD turbo. Still have it. Reprogrammed ECU, custom hand made stainless exhaust, new suspension, cold air intake. Best car I have EVER OWNED! Completely bullet proof. And so quick that it scares passengers. 105K on him. His name is Andy Acura (yes, boring). And no problems whatsoever. Even with he mods. I think I may have spent maybe 1,000 in maintenance and he is totally maintained up to date. Looks and drives like new after all these years. I feel slightly guilty that he has now been relegated to the carport due to #10. I really think I should sell him, but can't bring myself to do it. And honestly, the only reason I am keeping him is that my two lunatic dogs are not even allowed to LOOK at:
10: The stunning and completely beautiful Miss Tess, 2014 P85+ delivered as shown below. Given time and miles, I hope that she will be the BEST CAR EVER OWNED!!!
Fun to reminisce.
