Has anyone had issues with Kal Tire or another tire shop not installing tires?

Went to the appointment, they looked at the tires and would not install because they’re not “ev run flat” tires. Can’t find anything regarding that requirement in the manual or online….

Tires are:
TOYO Proxes Sport A/S × 4
235/45R18 98W

Vehicle is a 2021 Tesla model 3 standard range plus.

That’s very odd. I’d try another location. That’s not a real requirement that they are quoting,.

They're probably salty because they didn't sell you the tires.

Most of these big box/chain tire stores (Kal, Active Green, etc) will not do anything outside of standard like for like OEM recommended work. They will always pull BS like safety to make an excuse. But mostly it's to upsell or limit their own liability from installing non-OEM recommended work.

That's probably why they are making excuses like this. One of their system is probably saying your car will only support run-flat EV tires, so they are not going to touch your car for anything else. I have had similar excuses from Kal and Active Green and Ross.

Go to an independant tire store if these guys don't want your business.
