The Paint Thread 2024

Thought I’d start a thread for new cars with paint issues.

I’m 3 weeks and 400 miles in to my Tesla adventure. A few happy miles later and this has appeared on my wing.

Nothing on the bumper, but both wings with stone chips, and I’ve not even been on the motorway yet.

What would you do? Anyone else with issues on recent deliveries?

Consensus is that Tesla paint is as soft as butter…

The only stone chips I got on my Golf happened in the first few months. I now drive well behind the car in front.

That looks like tar pick-up from the photo, have a finger tip feel to see if it is raised from the surface.

That's what I would have said.

Agreed on tar pick up - try gently wiping with some IPA (no, not beer!) on a microfiber cloth.

Dab it first then wait 30 seconds or so before gently wiping with a microfibre cloth that you don’t care much for too

Like others say, looks like tar. You could put an LSP on as a bit of protection, or go whole hog with some PPF but the consensus is it's cheaper to respray.
