V10 scares me because people are stupid.
Can you imagine the number of ways to screw up smart summon?!

In the V10 description its said explicitly you should watch out for fast walking people, bicycles and cars which indicates there to be a risk and its likely that its only a question of time until something will happen and used against Tesla. I believe its kind of unavoidable not because smart summon will not work but because people act unpredictably and irresponsibly. Such incidents will be food for short attacks.

Every day many accidents happening in parking lots and no one even turns his head but with Tesla that will be THE huge story of the day trying to indicate its a system that caused it while its more likely humans did.

Lets be prepared that some incidents will happen.

On the positive side a self driving vehicle in a parking lot is a huge differentiator and people may finally wake up realizing how far ahead Tesla really is.

Everyone should have TSLA in their long-term/retirement portfolio. 98% of retail day traders will lose to market makers. The WS casino will always take your scalp if you try to trade this stock.
Agree with the idea that tsla is a good long term investment, but not that it should be in everyone's portfolio, it's too volatile for many people to stomach. And disagree that it's not a good stock for trading, maybe not always day trading, but imo it's a fantastic stock for medium term trading, thanks to all that volatility.

There was some chatter here about V10 rolling since an app update came out last night that enables some new stuff on the early access cars (eg window venting). TeslaFi shows no V10 vehicle installs since the night of 9/22-9/23. There is no roll-out yet, outside of the initial beta roll. Hopefully soon/this weekend.

Observation - no EOQ mad dash in US .. looks like.

I see this as "bullish". There are no tweets or internal emails yet quoted about the need to sell x thousands of Model 3s to meet the quarter's goal. I think Tesla has strong end-of-quarter pushes in Europe, UK, and Australia but a stronger August delivery total appears to have ameliorated the need for a frantic end of September delivery hell.

Perhaps a “vouch for” system would work. Manually ID 100 people. Have them vouch for their friends, then those people vouch for their friends etc. To be verified human you need a sufficient number of verified humans from diverse locations to vouch for you. Cheap, and always auditable back to the base 100.

That would only work if all humans were completely honest.

In other words, it won't work.

Ya I think there was a increase in Prod (as Jerome stated), that allowed US models to be produced even when most of models was for EU/China. This allowed Tesla to add inventory to non CA states.

Last week around 21st they started producing for CA. Hence for a while NOVA etc have had 100+ models, where as Long Beach etc had like 26.

Also for CA, being local, Tesla can mostly do production on demand, so it will not add more items to inventory.

What is a reasonable estimation of the extra revenue?

Tesla has wide latitude to recognize the income how they see fit. They need to recognize it in a way that they can justify and that makes sense but there is so much grey area here, it's not even funny.

There are certain advantages to recognizing it more slowly too (it will last longer that way). It's a powerful tool they have at their disposal to smooth out earnings or focus them where and when they want them (within reason).

The chatter is because at least one non-EAP owner (Steve Jobs' ghost) has allegedly received v10:

I know this might be considered a bit OT during active market hours but I know you enjoy the misery of non-Tesla car owners.

Just had to take my I-PACE in due to a recall. It needed a software update to fix a regenerative breaking issue. Exactly the sort of thing you lucky Tesla owners would have fixed OTA whilst you sleep.

No such luck for me. Got to the dealership early this morning and was told the update should take an hour and a half... It took 3 hours, then on top of that there were a few other separate recall issues to address. Like a new information sticker needed on the charge port door. So I spent 6 hours in or around the dealership waiting for the issues to be fixed. At least they had some nice hot drinks and biscuits, I tried 5 of each! ;)
