By far the most important part of the leaks will be if the price point that the leaks are saying ($27,500) is real or not.

That piece of information just by itself could send shockwaves through the auto industry.

$27,500 being for the China market but would essentially bring the starting price of the base 3 down $6,000-7,000 in corresponding markets
If by shockwave you mean completely nuking the stock below 200 day moving average then yeah...

The demand for a new 3 is pretty high at current pricing. Last thing we want is Tesla giving away free margins while we are trying to recover our margins.

Remember, production for the Highland 3 will be akin to the existing Y - shorter assembly lines, shorter assembly time, and overall higher throughput. Margins from the get go on this should be nice, given how much line optimization the Y has had that will be brought to bear immediately on the 3.

Ramp up time should also be much lower than other "new" projects.

I tend to agree that Tesla should pocket the extra margin and/or spread that margin across all of their platforms. But then again, I've thought Tesla should offer a 1 year subscription to FSD for $99/month as a simple and very effective way to pad margins and they seem to have no interest in taking the low hanging fruit 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully if the Highland 3 does in fact retail for that price or anywhere close to it, that Tesla emphasizes the cost savings and that margins won't be compromised....but yeah....they likely won't.

That's great, sell it for 40% margins until you can't. Don't be starting the price at 20% margins.

Also lets not even mention how a car at almost half the price of the Y that is newer in design will kill Y sales. The 25k car needs to be an entire model that can't be too good. Less leg room, smaller trunk, lower range, and slower.

Yeah that's the #1 reason I think the rumor about the price is inaccurate. I think it's more likely that it got lost in translation that the cost of the Model 3 Highland dropped by $6k, not that it'll retail for $6k cheaper.

Because at $27,500 it becomes too much of a good value and will put pressure on Model Y demand and thus Y pricing.

Maybe the first leak on Highland by several x.com accounts but who knows there is so many pictures floating around. Still trying to figure out the taillights, made more difficult with the red on red.

Looks good! Even if these aren't official pictures of the Highland M3 (they might be), we all know it's going to look pretty much just like this anyway.

"Soon".

And Ultra Red with aero wheels.
