Check out this Nissan solution.... and imagine it with a 3 way rocker (maybe on the backside of the wheel where you fingers are?) toggling between left/center/right view cameras. Just a thought:

Interesting concept and thanks for sharing this with us Newscutter!! If you look at the pictures on the link provided, it seems as if Nissan has shown some of the faults that I mentioned above - such as water on the camera = extremely limited visibility and direct sunlight can also cause limited visibility.

I don't know about rear-view mirror usage in the USA, but here in Europe you are thought in driving school to look at your rear view mirrors every 5 seconds.
You can't rely on any switches then for the images to appear - they must be visible at all time.
