Supercharger - Williamsport, PA

I just talked to the workers, their part will be done this week but then they need the hardware from Tesla and the transformer. Will probably be end of December before it is ready. 20191121_165324.jpg 20191121_165407.jpg 20191121_165323.jpg 20191121_165410.jpg

I'm surprised that this is not even on Tesla's map still.

The ones sited at Sheetz tend to just appear spontaneously without ever being on the Tesla map. I think the Tesla map is where Tesla is strategically planning on siting Superchargers "at or around" and is probably only revisited/updated on a very infrequent basis.

But if Sheetz or another company approaches Tesla (rather than the other way around) and says "Hey, I'd like to host a Supercharger at such and such location", that just bypasses the whole Tesla strategic planning process, thus no "Coming soon" map entry. Sheetz is definitely taking the lead on this (and many other) Superchargers, and good for them. They also seem to know where the holes in the Supercharger network are and the good candidates for Supercharger sites. Lynchburg, VA is another good example, although I will say this site is also a really nice one, located off interstates, but on a pretty commonly used travel corridor.

This Supercharger will be really nice for me when traveling to visit family in Wellsville, NY, allowing me to take a shortcut and bypass Painted Post (which would be a bit out of the way).

Sorry, I made that post from my phone and I just now noticed the image did not upload.

I was in Williamsport for my son's wedding over the weekend, and I took this photo of the finished base area for the SuperChargers on Friday (while plugged into the 14-50 at the Early BIrd Car Wash, essentially next door).

Even the signs are up. The first 2 say "Tesla Charging Only" but the others are all "10 minute general parking".

Great location for folks traveling from the Rochester area to points south, Florida, Carolinas. We wont have to stop in Painted Post. Can’t wait!

Your image is broken for me. Can you fix/repost?

A number of PA superchargers are at Sheetz (Carlisle, Dubois, Altoona, Breezewood?) and I'm sure others.

Anyone know if Sheetz (or other sponsors) offsets the cost of installation or power?

I'm looking forward to this one. I headed from Carlisle to Buffalo this weekend - and had to detour to Bloomsburg to make it to Corning NY SC. Williamsport would have been great for a 15 min stop.

Does anyone know (perhaps from permit details?) whether this will be V2 or V3? It seems like most of the new ones under construction are V3, but I'm not sure if that's true of the stations partnering with Sheetz.

And if it's V3, does anyone know the total power supplied to the station? Here in Northern VA, there's a V3 station just about to open up, but its permitting info suggests that it doesn't draw enough power to provide very many actual-V3-speed (250kW) connections at once, or even enough to provide full V2 speeds (150kW) when the station is busy.

I'm very interested in this, since I live in NoVA, but often go up toward Rochester to visit family and friends. I'd rather not stop as early as Hershey, but I can't make it all the way to Corning/Erwin without stopping (my battery might make it, but my bladder would not). Williamsport would be a perfect location to stop!

Sunday December 22 - other than truck parked with pallet on back no other crates on site.

Based on the conduit layout seen in previous pictures of the site during construction (see post #41), it will be V3.
