Has anyone heard any news on when/if South Dakota may be getting another Supercharger to complete the I29 stretch to Fargo?

Not supercharger news, but news about upcoming fast charging in Watertown, SD nonetheless: State Regulators Want to Invest More in Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in South Dakota

The state is using the VW Dieselgate money for grants to build CCS/CHAdeMO stations in both Watertown and Brookings. Teslas would of course need the appropriate adapter to be able to use them. Here's the full presentation the above reporting is based on: https://boardsandcommissions.sd.gov/bcuploads/BME December Packet.pdf

Quoted directly from the Supercharge Info forum. Further discussion can continue here:

"Watertown Municipal Utilities in Watertown SD (605-882-6233) has a permit for a new Tesla supercharger in Watertown. The permit was issued last year. I spoke with an engineer there who confirmed the chargers would be located at Hy-Vee in the NW corner of the parking lot. Due to Covid, they delayed the construction till this spring. supposed to be 8 chargers."

I'm going to be traveling to Watertown frequently for overnight trips for work and contemplating a Model Y. I'm coming from the Twin Cities. Is there really no place to charge in Watertown? When I punched in a round trip, it told me to go all the way down to Sioux Falls, equaling 14 hours round trip.... O_O

The RV park is very close to the Cloud 9 casino, so there's a decent lodging option if you want a room while your car charges overnight. This would be the low-stress option.

The other options I see are topping off the battery at a faster charger in between the Cities and Watertown. There's a CHAdeMO charger (50 kW) in Hutchinson, which is about 140 miles from Watertown. Doing a round trip would be doable in the summer months if you leave Hutchinson near 100% and watch your speed, even if you don't charge in Watertown. You could do a similar plan with the Alexandria Supercharger (250 kW), which is a less direct path, but the charge is faster and doesn't require a $450 adapter.

In the winter, you can't depend on having a 280 mile range, so you'd definitely want to find some way to charge in Watertown, but hopefully the plan for the charger at the BP station goes according to plan.

If you look at the pattern of recent supercharger build activity, I wouldn't be surprised if this location was already under construction or will soon start. So, if anyone is in the area or is going to be passing through in the near future, it would be helpful if you swung by the Hy-Vee to check for action.

The activity I'm talking about is a high concentration of supercharger construction in this part of the Midwest region which, like Watertown, Tesla's "coming soon" map pins listed with Q2 or Q3 2021 target opening dates. These locations include: Peoria, IL (actually Q1); Hannibal, MO; Mt. Pleasant, IA; Waterloo, IA; and Sioux City, IA.

I will be in Watertown for the summer stating in a couple weeks. I will keep everyone up-to-date on progress. I was told by the engineer at Municipal Utilities that Tesla wanted to get this location open by July 4th but not sure how that can happen.
The Sioux City one came together very quickly ... the digging/trenching, cable pulling, electrical work, concrete work can be done in less than two weeks, and if the equipment is there and the power company can get their portion of things done in a timely basis, one month is definitely possible.

Any idea who is doing the installs? I recall that it was some company from Kentucky(?) that was doing the I94 installs across ND. I presume they have a favorite crew doing installs in a region and would go from place to place with occasional breaks.
