Seat heater after v11 is too hot

After a software update last spring (when auto seat heaters first showed up), I feel like my drive seat heater gets way too hot, even if manually set to the lowest setting. When I toggle between all 3 levels, I don't even really notice it getting hotter. Leaving it on the first setting (which I used to do comfortably before) is way too hot and I just end up switching it off.

This is in addition to the very annoying issue that the auto seat heater always switches to max even if the cabin is set to like 73 and outside temp is 60, and doesn't seem to want to throttle down on its own.

Does anyone have this issue? Could this be a hardware issue?

The default setting for the heated seats does seem to be Max, but it's easy enough to turn it down. I rarely use seat heaters but my wife is very comfortable with the lowest setting so maybe the problem is specific to you car

I noticed that the level two seat heating does seem hotter after the switch to the v11 software. I used to use level two a lot, but now I mostly use one.

weird cause it felt like it was hotter before that update, maybe i have too much fat and it doesn't go through

The auto setting works great for me. Have you tried it?

Yes it pretty much throttles to max and stays there. Even if I turn it down manually the seat stays really hot

Like most seat heaters, it should get extra hot for the first minute or so before ramping down to the selected level. Mine works really well in both auto and manual mode. The lowest setting (whether auto or manual) is quite subtle.

Try a reboot, seems like a weird software glitch.

I'm still seeing this... don't use hot because it's too hot and never seems to turn off

Mine regularly uses settings 1 and 2 when in auto. That said Im in CA so my car isnt trying to do as much of a temperature swing. If you wanted to trouble shoot lower the temp and see if the seat temp lowers with it. If its not you may have something off.

As a side note I love that Tesla seats get so hot. Way better than my various GM vehicles ever had.

Figured it out for anyone with similar issue - the bottom seat cushion heater wasn't working so it was setting the back cushion to high to compensate.
