Tesla's rapid build-and-deliver cycle means that the cars do not sit in lots for months prior to delivery, so the paint doesn't have time to fully harden. I found this out the hard way by getting little sleeks all over my paint from my snow brush (December delivery). I've been meaning to have the car buffed, but am reluctant to trust it to a detailer. Risk of joy ride, etc.
Touchless car wash is fine. Just watch out for those "wheel cleaner" gizzmos - they always "clean" the side of my car instead of the wheels. Buy the cheapo wash so you don't get that.
