I was able to witness a red Model Y yesterday that had the PWS. It made the weird "spaceship" noise when reversing. I didn't get the VIN, but I believe it was a new build. It had just gotten its temp tags (colorado) which were set to expire on Nov 8th. (they are good for 60 days)
Put the car in reverse, roll down the window, allow the vehicle to move backward and listen for the PWS audible tone. You'll know it when you hear it. If you're still unsure, check on YouTube as I'm sure someone has recorded it.
Someone said that a pedestrian needs to be detected by the car before the forward sound starrs. It was also said that after passing the pedestrian, the sound stops. If that's true, then I'm cool with it.
