And it's the size of a Model 3 too!
would like to see shots with the Model 3, Model S and the Porsche TayCan$.

Must suck to be a Porsche nut and realize a ten year old company Is still superior to your brand and that brand has been making cars since Hitler became the leader of the Nazi Party

Hitler’s comment after he saw the new Porsche TayCan$:

The Taycan vs the S:

The Model 3 specs:
2019 Tesla Model 3 | Features and Specs | Car and Driver

The Model 3 has a wheelbase of 113.2 inches, the Taycan is 114 inches. Though the length and width of the Taycan are closer to the S. The cargo space in the Taycan is closer to the Model 3.

In automotive design features, Porsche has a lot more experience and I expect it will show. The manufacturing quality will probably be superior to Tesla. In some performance features the Taycan will probably beat the Model S P, but in other performance metrics as well as overall usefulness I suspect the Model S will win hands down. The Model S is an excellent daily driver with the capacity to haul the whole family and do a Costco run. Between the better range and currently superior charging network, it's also the go to choice for a road trip.

The Model S P fully loaded is also half the price of a modestly equipped Taycan.

More likely Tesla engineers readied the car for the ring with the improvements they thought would be simple/necessary to improve performance (wider tires, more cooling via the cutout, etc)....put a + badge on it to be cute, and called it a day. This ain’t a redesign this is a hack job to give it the best shot it can get in a short period of time to go have some fun.

LOL at the sawed-out larger hole for the grille

Exactly.

>Any other ideas?
Track mode for sure :)

>This ain’t a redesign this is a hack job
Do the fender flares suggest a hack job?

Yes, in fact, that’s right. They are 3m taped in fender flares fabricated over a few hours, painted and applied. They serve the purpose of supporting running wider tires without looking ridiculous. It’s one of multiple direct tells that this isn’t a redesign, it’s a grouping of modifications like this (lighter wheels, bigger brakes, etc) that are simple bolt ons that will help performance. Will a redesign have arches, or a bigger cutout, wider tires, etc...um maybe, but this is not some kind of early view, it’s common sense simple modifications that may or may not convey. Obvious.

Not a redesign, a hack job, and one it’s great to see them do.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
-ooh, Porsche is about to release their new EV
-lets make a faster model-s in 3 weeks (the Taycan release date has been known for a while)
-lets not announce any real technical details
-hint it might be available in the long term
-Done

What should have be done
-once Taycan was announced begin planning a model-S update to be announced 1 week after Taycan reveal
-announce the new model-S interior with a price cut of $5000 and a slight performance improvement
-possibly could have held the Raven hardware upgrades until announcement.
