Like @javawolfpack said I brought my own pair of pliers. It is not hard at all. Mine were kinked at 45 degree angle, 90 would be a tad easier to use but 45 was all I had. 5 min to remove screws from underneath bumper. Then pull super hard from edge to remove black piece with adhesive. It WILL finally give way with a loud POP that will sound like you removed the front bumper. But you don't...

Final Farewell from this thread! Took delivery Saturday, and all those still waiting hang in there, it is so worth it. I've been waiting 3 years and the day has finally come!

Chose to take delivery in Orlando for the full experience vs getting it delivered to my house. Financials already done so had to sign papers and leave. However, never met my assigned DS. Another girl was only one doing deliveries. She was very nice but customers before us were a bit of a PITA for them I believe and ran over an hour past their allotted time.

We had another girl in store show us through car for 20 min (we knew everything already). Then I got to work removing front license plate holder (so ugly). I had a pair of 45 degree pliers with me, borrowed a screw driver and in 10 min it was off. Nice to do in the clean AC environment.

Only problem with car was spring back of console door was slow. It was promptly fixed while we waited for the DS to finish her first delivery. Couple of door trim pieces don't line up perfectly but it isn't by much and no one will ever notice but me so I don't care. The car is so sexy it doesn't matter.

Also, the app didn't start working until Monday. Internal issue with Tesla the DS said.

Now for the pics! Drove home via the supercharger network the day after delivery. How freaking cool. Will probably create a new thread documenting my drive home.

And due to the 1 hr delay we got an extra umbrella and coffee mug plus they tossed in the grey wheel caps and black lug nut covers for the set of wheels I bought from a guy off TMC same day. I LOVE Tesla. View attachment 190485 View attachment 190486View attachment 190487 View attachment 190488
Congratulations! I pick up "the Pope" tomorrow in all white like yours. Beautiful car! Good luck!

Good news on the lease agreement. I received it today via email and the monthly charge is $38 less than the original estimate. Nothing else is changed, same down pymnt, same 15k miles etc.......So rather than the usual dealership model "sorry, the payment is $50 more than I quoted BS" mine went down! And by leasing my bank account which I named "Model 3" is untouched and deposits made every 2 weeks like I originally planned. (Just could not wait, had to have the S NOW!) :)

Based off the spreadsheet, my best guess as to the delay in my order is he Matte obeche trim option. I believe the southern California 60kw orders were postponed and on top of that, the matte obeche trim optioned cars as of late seem to be taking longer than others.

Ordered 3July and still not in production.

My Model S arrived at the Service Center last Thursday & I took delivery on Monday. During the overnight hours I received a bunch of automated e-mails from Tesla:
  • 11:53 pm - We're prepping your Tesla for delivery
  • 11:54 pm - Confirming your delivery (with the location & time as blank gaps in the e-mail)
  • 2:12 am - How was your delivery? (with a survey link)
It just goes to confirm what others have said about the e-mails not being reliable. MyTesla seemed to be accurate for me for tracking when the car arrived at the Service Center based on what my DS told me regarding when it arrived.

I placed my order on Aug. 9th. Confirmed after Aug. 16th. Delivery Specialist contacted me on the 17th (yesterday) and said it should be ready for delivery mid to late September. now for the waiting period. Hopefully he keeps me posted on the production process.

Hi sky - did you get your Vin # from the confirmation yet? Looks like you'd be in the 1566xx range.

the matte obeche trim optioned cars as of late seem to be taking longer than others.

I am curious why that is, but it seems to be the case - average this quarter for all cars is 4.16 days, while Matte Obeche cars come in a full day longer at 5.16. (Mine is Matte as well, and today is start of production day 6.) Also wonder how much of it has to do with alleged AP retrofit capabilities. Interesting to see, at least.

Yes, my VIN# ends with [redacted by @alexvirital ]

You might want to take out the last three there. Generally VINs are shared as 156xxx. It's technically an identifiable number.
