Which is not for sale (for now or ever).Lucid Air sapphire for example has 3 600hp motors, even though the battery is limited to 1234hp. But it does allow them to distribute that power nearly however they want.

I mean, it's literaly for sale on their website right now and you can click buy and put down $25K.Which is not for sale (for now or ever).
Sorry. the link for It is buried at the bottom, so I couldn't see it.I mean, it's literaly for sale on their website right now and you can click buy and put down $25K.
Should we talk about the roadster?
Sure, but not the point I was making.Which is not for sale (for now or ever).
Wasn't that long ago that similar statements were being made about Tesla.Either a Chinese automaker will buy Lucid, or they won’t. That’s what will become of anything Lucid.
Lucid is not an “automaker” by any traditional sense. They lose $400,000 on each car they sell and have no path to profitability. Their goal is simply to create enough illusion to dupe a Chinese company into buying them out.
Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund owns more than half of Lucid, and Lucid has built a factory in Saudi Arabia that is currently assembling Lucids from kits shipped from the U.S., but which is supposed to eventually fully manufacture Lucids. Lucid will stay in business as long as the Saudis want them to, and I would be surprised if the Saudis have any plans to sell out to the Chinese.Either a Chinese automaker will buy Lucid, or they won’t. Get OUTTA here with those facts!!Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund owns more than half of Lucid, and Lucid has built a factory in Saudi Arabia that is currently assembling Lucids from kits shipped from the U.S., but which is supposed to eventually fully manufacture Lucids. 3 Plaid motors in a vehicle the weight of a Model 3 would just spin the tires and make it slower than a Model S Plaid.
You’re wrong. This is absolutely true! Start at 11:20 in the video below and you will see. They removed about 700 lbs from the Plaid and it got slower especially off the line. Not true:
A literally hacked up car vs something from the factory with properly tuned traction control are very different things. You’re wrong. This is absolutely true! Start at 11:20 in the video below and you will see. They removed about 700 lbs from the Plaid and it got slower especially off the line.
Removing weight only helps if you increase traction as well when launching from a dig.
The Model 3 isn’t going to come from the factory with a Drag Pack. With normal street tires it isn’t going to hook if you give it 3 Plaid motors. It probably wouldn’t hook with only 1 Plaid motor.
Two Model S LR motors is all it will need to get deep into the 10s. Adding 3 Plaid motors would just be wasteful. You wouldn’t be able to utilize their full potential until you were above something like 70+ mph.
All traction control can do is limit the power. My whole point is that it would be a waste to put three Plaid motors in there because you wouldn’t be able to utilize their full potential until you were above 70 mph.A literally hacked up car vs something from the factory with properly tuned traction control are very different things.
It won't have 3 plaid motors because Tesla is cheap not because there's no advantagesAll traction control can do is limit the power. You could accomplish the same thing up to 70 mph with the Model S LR motors. I know some people care about roll racing but Musk and Tesla don’t.
It won’t have 3 Plaid motors. It just won’t.
You are WAY underestimating the cost increase those motors would add. They aren’t free. Adding an extra motor alone would add tremendous cost. Never mind adding 3 Plaid motors to the cost.It won't have 3 plaid motors because Tesla is cheap not because there's no advantages
In a prepped drag strip scenario, yes it won't make any difference. Anywhere else, it will have real world improvements. Especially handling.
I think you’re overestimating the cost. So far the smallest price difference between the X LR and X Plaid has been $3.5k (since increased to $8.5k). So probably could be done for somewhere between $5k and $10k.You are WAY underestimating the cost increase those motors would add. They aren’t free. There are other MUCH less expensive ways to improve handling instead of adding a second rear motor.
What are you even talking about? The price difference between either LR and Plaid versions is $15k right now.I think you’re overestimating the cost. Either way, you seem to agree the reason it won’t happen is because Tesla is cheap, not because there isn’t a performance advantage.

Now imagine the cost difference between going from the MUCH cheaper Model 3 Performance motor and a Plaid motor. You would be talking about a $65k+ Model 3 at least.
You are just simply wrong about this. It would be incredibly wasteful to put 3 Plaid motors in a Model 3. It won’t ever happen because it is just a terrible idea.

Are you saying 3 motors (with a 3rd inverter) isn't that much more expensive than 2?And the Plaid is basically a model 3 motor with a carbon sleeved rotor. The manufacturing costs just aren’t that different.
