I think we'd all like to see higher speed charging verified - continuous discharge at that rate isn't so important on a car.

However, if they are planning to use these as buffers for micro-generation, it's a different story. 720A at 12V gives 36A at 240V, only enough to run one of the socket circuits in my place, for example. So if the power density is poor, they lost their advantage in volume and cost too.

I've never seen a single 12 volt battery by itself used as power backup or storage. Even a small UPS runs off 48 volts of batteries.

But then again, have you ever seen a battery with over 4x lead acid energy density used in a UPS?

I don't think these are for your 800 watt home computer back up, though there are now lithium replacement packs for those available.

Ecolocap announces a joint venture to build batteries. Unfortunately it won't benefit any of us for a long time since they are going after the stationary storage market. Unless you can fit 720Ah 12 volt batteries.
