Maximum Charging

Last two times I've tried charging to 100% (For a trip) my car only indicates a charge up to 98%. Anyone know why that might be the case? Thanks.

How long was it plugged in, that last 2% can take A LONG time.

Thanks. Got that. It doesn’t keep trying to charge. It stops charging at 98% and sends a notice via the app that “charging is complete”

I’m now charging at AC from 6% up too 100% @ 1kW/h. This takes very long time, more then 24h +. mid you open the app and change the charge limit to 100% you will likely first see 95% after a secondary attempt you will get it too100%

I noticed this too. I was able to coax the slider to 100% but it said complete with no electricity draw at 98%. Wonder if it is the 2020 firmware or just due to the cold weather.

I think this is too save the cells. But you can let it charge. I had the same issue and it charged to 98% and dropped too 93%. The BMS and car are smart enough soo normally you charge it too 100% and drive away when finished

this happened to me too. the solution was to drain the battery then slow charge the car using 110v for the next few days. afterwards my car charged up to 100% no issue since

I let it drain to 5% and charged it with 1kW/h until 70% then i need the car. After coming home i charging again with 1kW/h
and it works. My battery is a '85' but i get only useable of 69kW and the Tesla ServiceCenter is saying everything is fine!...
Is this really true?

Can you hook up a scanner to the CANbus and tell us the average cell voltage? It may be capped at 4.1v which is causing you to lose capacity.

sounds correct.. actual usable from a 85 pack was 77kw, then add in battery degradation.. 69kw sounds correct
