The release note does mention that using the hold setting will "maximise" range. Which you could read something or nothing into....
I'd wager the difference between using the new Hold setting and not is minimal at best.

Same with mine it charged to what it did beforeI havent received my update yet, but the car for the first time this morning charged over the normal 278-279..... maybe I will be getting my update today.
Rollbacks after often more difficult than incremental big fixes. When something like this happens, why not just "roll back" to the prior firmware version right away, rather than leaving new firmware problems out in the field while they scramble to fix and re-release? Seems that would be a "safer" and quicker approach.
Nothing about increased range?
Has anyone seen an increase in miles on the battery since the latest update nov 8th?? It was announced this upgrade would increase the range on the model 3 and I haven’t seen any change. Have you??
Power increased, not range.
It is not clear yet - depends on which car the OP has. There’s a lot of confusion on this topic. All of the 2020 vehicles show better efficiency numbers than the 2019 vehicles. Both the SR+ and AWD show increased range on the website.
It seems likely that they increased the range by increasing efficiency at the top end, which also could mean more power for a given battery current . EPA numbers show similar improvements city and highway cycle.
There is no range increase via this update to any vehicle. 5% power for 3, 3% for S/X.
Lol everyone misinterpreted when elon mentioned it. He only mentioned the software update will add a 5% Increase in power. NOT RANGE. He did however begin to mention one pedal driving will also be included in the update and will help increase range. Your car isn’t magically getting its range increased.
Interesting. Do we know whether better efficiency is achievable though? I would kind of expect it with the power update but maybe it is different.
Better efficiency would not have to show up in the rated miles because that is just a choice of the constant on Tesla’s part.
I got the update last night and played with the new regen-all-the-way-to-zero feature. Seems like that will allow for slightly greater regen energy reclamation. Not sure how appreciable it'll be, though, as there's relatively little energy coming in at such slow speeds.
Also keep on mind that Tesla has traditionally under-reported range vs what the EPA allows them to claim. They did this when rating the original 3 LR RWD at 310 when it qualified for more like 330. Musk said on the most recent earnings call that they did the same with the current S (370 vs 373 or so). Raising #s does not necessarily imply an actual efficiency improvement.I agree that is unlikely the source. The improvement in range for 2020 vehicles has to come from somewhere - but probably not that!
Exactly this. Elon said himself that they under rated their epa ratings. Now they are just in line of what should have been advertised originally. Also keep on mind that Tesla has traditionally under-reported range vs what the EPA allows them to claim. True. I thought they were bumping us 310 range mile folks to 325.The release note does mention that using the hold setting will "maximise" range. Which you could read something or nothing into....

But this thread is about the current update, 2019.36. There is no range increase via this update to any vehicle. 5% power for 3, 3% for S/X.
