Is there a benefit to waiting to configure?

Tax credit or not, I'm not going to buy an overpriced car with overpriced options that I do not even want, just because Tesla wants to be greedy and prioritize corporate profits over the loyal customers who went out of their way to put down $1000 two years ago. I'll get my $36K base model + paint 3 when I'm damn well good and ready to order it, and Tesla allows me to, with the (lack of) overpriced options. I'm a man of principle.
 
I've always wanted the long-range version. As to if it's overpriced, that's a subjective estimation since there are no other 300+ mile EVs available for purchase in 2018. Tesla isn't prioritizing profits over loyal customers, they are prioritizing solvency.
